FCR + Merger spring - Still bogs

Hi Eddie, when you say "timing Screw" is this for the Accelerator pump or the fuel air screw ? With reference to the Fuel Air Screw, I have tried it a half turn out and up to 3 turns out but it does not resolve the issue. Also, I bought the reommended after market one with the little T bar on the bottom. The problem is that it is very loose and vibrates out and drops onto the casing below. What kind of product should i use to stop this happening. Thanks for all of your help over the years - very very much appreciate !!!!!

FCR + Merger spring - Still bogs

The needle is the recommended EMN with clip 3rd position. Riding altitude about 650 - 1000 feet above sea level.

FCR + Merger spring - Still bogs

I followed the FCR jetting precisely - The bogging is right off idle and also when applying throttle on and off when in the trails. I have the 3 x 3 with stock pipe and followed the recommended jetting for this. I presumed that the AP was set up correctly and would not need adjusting - was that a bad assumption ? If i need to set up the AP properly, how should i do that ? Thanks for your assistance. Flint
  6. Greetings all, when i bought my TT 39mm FCR kit I installed the Merge spring right from the beginning. However, the bike bogs off idle and seems to misfire a lot when riding. Seems to be when applying the throttle. it sounds similar to the symptoms requiring the O'Ring mod - however, i have the Merge spring installed. Any ideas what i need to do to fix this ? Thanks for your assistance. Flint

    petcock on DRZ400s

Hello all, I have been following this thread with great interest and there is great info in here. However, i would like a little help sorting out all of the variable .... I think that a lot of people will be in the same boat that i am in. I have the S model and recently installed the FCR carb. Currently i have the stock tank but hope to get the IMS 3.2 soon. And i would like to replace the vacuum petcock with a good old fashioned ON/OFF/RES. What do you recommend ? Here are some of the variables that i can think of - The Pringel 6190-AH61AV says 2000 - 2004 but i assume it fits all years ? The Pringel fits the IMS but not properly on the stock as you can not get to RES ? The Pringel has a really lousy RES which is no good to me if it is only 7 miles (or was that Kms?). The 1999 WR400 petcock fits. Are there any issues with this unit ? it seems as though it does not work for getting to RES on the stock tank so i guess it is good on the IMS ? Can anyone confirm ? I see that the output is to the right side of the cock - any issues with the FCR carb ? There is an Ebay option but do not know who makes it http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DRZ40...Q5fAccessories and does it work properly considering it has the output from the right side of the cock ? i am guessing that i need an output either to the left or straight down - So is there one out there ? someone metioned a Raptor petcock .... any update ? SO, bottom line based on not wanting a "Pezzel" fuel line we need to know if there is a cock out there where the line exits vertically down - right ? Therefore, does anyone know if there is one ? Thanks guys - i think that if we get a matrix answering all these questions then we could make an FAQ doc to make it easier for everyone. Flint

Is It Jetting Or Something Else ?

Hi guys, i do not like or trust vacuum petcocks and much rather have a proper on/off with reserve. I have every intention of changing it. As for the gas/oil question i will be checking this weekend. Eddie, i checked the 3 X 3 and it really is 3 X 3 but ..... it is behind the mounting pegs for the CDI which was still in place and therefore blocking part of the opening. I relocated the CDI so it is now not blocking the opening. It seems to fit really well between the pegs and gas tank / seat mount. You guys are SOO much help and i really apreciate it - thank you all !! Flint

Is It Jetting Or Something Else ?

Hi Motor7, i currently have the original vacuum oporated petcock so can't turn it off. BUT .... I really want to change to a regular petcock now that i have the FCR Carb - and that is another discussion ..... I am purchasing the IMS 3.2 G tank and wanted to get the Acerbis petcock but it has a central pipe inside rather than the 2 that the originals do. I am hestitant about drilling a 3rd hole in the tank between the original 2 as i am not convinced that the petcock would then seal properly. I imagine that the E model petcock would fit exactly but it seems very pricey. Before i spend 4 days finding and reading all related posts, does anyone have suggestions for other options, or should i just spend the dough ? Thanks Flint

Is It Jetting Or Something Else ?

Great explanaition - thanks !! I already bought the 3" metal scraper for the recut and am already planned a 3.2 Gal IMS tank with Acerbis petcock which has a reserve (unless there is a better petcock). I would be surprised if the float bowl did not seal off the fuel as it is a brand new TT FCR Carb kit. However, i will follow the instructions :-) Thanks again.

Is It Jetting Or Something Else ?

Thanks guys ...... i have my list for the weekend. Hey Motor7, what were you refering to about the OEM petcock biting the dust ?
  15. Greetings friends, I have a 2005 DRZ 400 S and have just installed the TT FCR39 Carb kit and done the 3 X 3 (actually it is about 2 3/4 X 3). other than this the engine is stock and muffler is untouched (i.e. fully chocked up). I followed the jetting instructions as per below: (The only difference is that i am at about 800 ft above sea level). sea level stock exhaust or "quite,q,96db,corked up etc aftermarket pipe", 3x3 - 155 main jet 200 main air jet EMN needle clip 3 45 pilot jet remove pilot air jet 2 turns fuel screw o-ring mod I did not do the O Ring mod as i bought the aftermarket APS as addised. Here's my problem ..... I started and ran the bike for a short 20 minute ride in cold weather (a few degrese above freezing so it should be a little leaner) but the bike hesitates immediately on cracking the throttle (at any rev). Also, it does not rev out cleanly. Mid range seems good but it just seems chocked at higher revs. After ridding for a while, i stopped the bike to chat for 2 mins with my buddy. When i went to restart it was very reluctand and took several attempts and only just started. It would sometimes turn over just once and seem to jam just as though the starter button was let go (perhaps this is a starter button problem not associated with anything ?). To me this all seemed to add up to rich jetting so i adjusted the lovely T handle adjuster (that i installed as per recommendation) from 2.5 turns until the idle was higher and it was way in at only a fraction of a turn out. Why am i perplexed ? ......... I have set the carb up exactly as advised and it "seems" too rich - add to that running in very cold air which leans it out which means that it is running very rich. Is it possible that it is not the jetting but a problem with the fuel hoses ? I used the fuel hoses from the old CV carb so the vaccum hose is very thin and way too long. Any advice would be very well received. Thanks guys Flint
