  1. Air leak, thats interesting, never thought of that, I'll check it out.
  2. haha, I appreciate the advice, but I already have a bike, and love to ride!
  3. Thanks for the advice hi-tech horsepower, I'll definitely look into it. But to answer your questions I am running a brand new stock size plug, 110 leaded, a full RLV exhaust system (karting company), and as for timing the kart has this SPI ignition system with four maps: A B C and D. Its currently set on B.
  4. I would really appreciate anyone's help, I need to get this engine back to full strength. First I'll lay down the background, there are some things you'll need to know to diagnose this properly. I have been riding dirt bikes since around 8 years old (XR70, KX65, YZ85, KX125 some bikes I've had) and I trust you moto guys more than anyone else when it comes to fixing anything bike related. The problem is in my shifter kart, it has a 2001 cr125 engine, that I have been trying to get right for a while since its problem. So it all started when I was going around a circlular turn around at a local school testing a new tire setup. I was getting more and more confident until I finally found what I considered the limit. I couldn't get into fourth because I would lose traction before really getting into the power band, so I circled at 3 gear nearly full throttle for a quite a few laps. That was until I heard a funny noise and looked over my left shoulder to see a mist of antifreeze being blasted out the side of my radiator's release hole repeatedly for the next minute or so. I turned on the Mychron and sure enough my engine temp was around 250. I shut if off trailered it home and went to start it on the stand later that evening. Turned the wheel over (to pop start it) and a bunch of antifreeze shot out of the exhaust (yes blown head gasket I know). so by 2 or 3 days later I have a full top end kit from Wiseco, which is installed the day I received it with me watching. On the older piston you could see where it was trying to seize with the cylinder, but it wasn't horrible, also the head was pretty warped, I had to sand it down a pretty good amount before being able to reinstall it, but it was all able to be fixed (or so I thought at the time). What was interesting was what came out of the engine: A genuine Honda racing piston, the top was domed and there was no window, also there was a small hole beginning to grow on the top of the piston from the plug (this was small but interesting). Anyway my mechanic said that piston was rare and hard to get (previous owner had installed it). I wonder if that has anything to do with my current problem I don't know but I'll get into what that is soon. So the new wiseco we put in is flat topped and has a window, completely different, but my mechanic makes a few adjustments with spacing or something, that he says should adapt the new piston to the engine well. So I get home, put the engine back in the kart , and go to start it on the stand. When I went to turn the wheel it turned much easier and the engine popped into life quickly. So that night I do three 15 minute intervals of driving each time increasing speed and inbetween letting the engine get stone cold. The next day I warm it up and gradually work into race speed, but something is wrong. When accelerating in 1st gear its like it was bogging but louder and poppy inconsistent throttle until finally it hits the power band and from then up the engine seems normal, but this popping and no bottom end feel, until you SLAM into the power band abruptly is really annoying, not right, and dangerous. I can be full throttle second gear, popping, popping, inconsistent low power, until all of a sudden like hitting a wall the power band smacks you in your face and the pull is strong into the next gear. The problem is less and less present the higher the gear your in and if you get a good shift from power band to power band, but exiting corners is a nightmare, bogg, bogg, WHACK power. So Thats my problem and all its history, I hope to god somebody can help me.
