  2. I've corrected my casing problem by not ever doing it again. The last time I cased a jump, I took a few moments to reflect on the situation I had gotten myself into. On my way down, I played rock paper scissor to decide which bone was going to break. Turns out it was my ankle. Since I went into a partial coma on the landing, it wasn't that obvious until I tried to take my boot off. I agree with guitarnut, you really should use your leg muscles to absorb the impact. The real key is to hit with as much rear tire as possible and as much throttle as possible. The worst thing to do is land with no power on the rear wheel.
