    Places to ride in Georgia

Moto Mountain is rumored to be open again. Highland Park is an excellent place to ride, not as quad friendly as Durhamtown. The state forest OHV areas aren't bad either. There's one right near Durhamtown with about 20miles of trails. Look through Georgia Off Road.

    CRAFTSMAN tools new home...LOWE'S!!

I have a 15 year old 460 that I use around the house. I keep a 33” bar on it, good for flush cutting stumps. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

    CRAFTSMAN tools new home...LOWE'S!!

I bought the US General 56" cabinet from Harbor Freight because it had better reviews than anything else competitive (Craftsman, Kobalt, Husky, Tractor Supply stuff, Northern Tool, etc). It's the only cabinet out there that provides dual ball bearing slides on all drawers greater than 3" height. They also roll every metal edge. Craftsman will never be the same. Craftsman tools was the only competitive advantage that Sears had. And I will further claim that Craftsman is what pulled men to the mall to go shopping. Then Sears Craftsman went to complete crap quality and sales fell accordingly.

    Kickstand Karma

Lost mine after about a year. 2014 500XCW bought in late 13. Replaced with a Trail Tech. No issues since.

    Bike stolen =-(

Hey Repp, welcome to ATL. It's not just the city. I'm 20 miles south on ten acres in the woods and have had 3 bikes stolen. And I'm 1000' from the road. Sorry for your luck man. I can't suggest anything to help your situation. Even if you keep the bike in the apartment with you they will break in to get it. I've lived in several cities around the country and they're all liberal shitholes full of loud lazy entitled turds who think their lives actually matter. Hopefully, that GT degree will provide some level of comfort. Rant on brother!

    Atlanta Clubs/ groups?

Moto Mountain back in business? I'll have to check that out. Went twice. They have some mean single track.
  8. Generally, all hobbies are expensive and any responsible financial advisor will tell you it makes no financial sense to buy new or used. So it all boils down to your risk tolerance and how bad you want it. I simultaneously had a new 2010 KTM 450 XCW and a used 2003 Yamaha WR450. I rode both equally because both of them had phenomenal performance. However, the WR took a lot of work. When you find those "good deal" bikes in the $2000-$3000 range expect it to cost about the same amount again to get it where it needs to be. My WR cost me $2500 initially and I easily put that much again into it making it perfect. I had a similar experience with a 2001 YZ 250. I've had two new bikes and several used. I'm a capable and confident mechanic and don't mind the unknowns of used. New bikes are nice, but I don't believe the overall riding experience would be any less had I not ever had one.

KTM 500 2013 cam chain tick

I have not done the KTM tensioner yet, but on my Yamaha the tensioner had to be "cocked" first before installation as it was self tensioning.

Oconee Nat’l Forest trails any good?

Town creek OHV next door is part of Oconee Forest and has OK riding with about 15 miles of trails. There is a play area for bikes and the trail markings can be confusing in parts of the trails. The local riding clubs put a lot of effort into keeping the Georgia public OHV trails in good shape. However, I did not know there was a riding area at the location identified above. It looks like it may be private. Both are close to Durhamtown.
  11. My stock setup, 2014 500 XC-W, is 13/50 now running 13/52. More down low torque than my JD tractor.

    Trail Beers

Down south we also water ski on occasion. Thought it might be good to differentiate for the less sophisticated among us. Kinda like people that say shrimp scampi instead of just scampi.

    Trail Beers

Nope, never. And I take that position based on my attempt to snow ski after drinking.

    Not racing but rocking numbers

It doesn’t get offensive until the Axe spray shows up.

    Which singletrack trails at Durhamtown?

There’s a fairly new one off of Q trail past the swamp stop to the left and easy to pass by. It’s not on the map. Nice flow with a few hills and ravines. The Moose trails in back of the property aren’t bad, but easy to get turned around on and quite long.
