Dr. Mark.. broken wrist/surgery please help.

Thats why I am asking. I wont see the doc for a few more weeks. Even then they will say to stay off bikes..blah blah blah. You understand bikes and how bad I want to get back to racing, these people dont. They dont even consider it a sport. In a young healthy guy how long does it usually take after surgery for a bone to heal up good. It was a clean break. Just ballpark it if you can. The suspense is killing me.
  2. Ok I will try to break this down so its easy to get straight.. first of all i am 20years old and into mx in a big way. i am racing at a very competitive level in my region. -june 15, broke my wrist(radius) had it reduced at the hospital that day. -june 17, saw a new ortho surgeon and shes brand new here and supposed to be the best as far as wrists go. she reduced it again hoping to line it up properly to heal. -june 24, saw her again and she thought there was a good chance it was going to heal properly but wasnt sure. -july 2, saw her again and she decided that it wasnt going to heal properly. -july 3, had a plate and 8 screws put in. -july 15, saw her again and it was looking like it was healing great. -its almost been 4 full weeks since surgery now. swelling is way down and i am really working it good. i have a lot of movement down and am working on getting the movement up(hand tilted back..) i finally got over it and decided to get back working and working out again. i am starting back at the gym tomorrow to get back into shape. my question is when can i ride again? i mean its getting stronger and by this weekend i should have my cti2 wrist brace. on august 14 it will be a full 6 weeks since surgery and 2months since the initial break. i really want to start riding next week and ride for 2 full weeks and hit the local race(that broke my wrist in the first place..) on the 17. thanks so much for taking the time to ride through this... the healthcare system is way different up here.

    my track...PICS!

Never had anything happen yet. Those guys would probably just think its a trail anyway.

What do you mean check up on it? I can ride it whenever. It is on government land but nobody bothers me at all.. There is actually a big trail system near by so any noise that anyone hears they just assume it is from the trails. I am sure if more people knew I would get in trouble, but I dont take any machines in or even vehicles..Just ride in..ride out.

Yeah... I really worked on my style/form this year.. I always rode with elbows down and never really did some simple stuff like gripping with my knees. Know I am mentally telling myself to do a bunch of simple things and am going faster than ever..I cant wait to race the new bike in a few weeks to see where I stack up... Heres a crappy vid from a little circle track I have set up..

Oh for sure. Its even better when you learn to soak stuff up or even scrub a bit. Theres one jump at the race track that I can hit in 4th(gear high..) gear and throw the bike down. Its insane how much faster I can hit it than usual...Makes up time like crazy but uses a bunch of energy.

Yeah exactly. Jumps are easy, they are actually a break to relax a bit in the air. Corners give me fits, I am trying different styles of riding all the time now that I am using good form. I think trying to really flow and stay smooth is key.

Thats the great thing.. It can rain for days on end and then you only need 1/2 day of sunshine and it is perfect that night. In the heat of the summer I dont really ride it much, gets way too dry and choppy. Spring and fall its amazing though.

Well its on gov land and nobody knows about it..I just ride to and from the track. I'd love to bring a machine in but it would get me in lots of trouble.. Besides, whats wrong with a rough, non jumpy track? I have lots of tracks with big jumps to ride on....This one gets you in shape real fast.

LOL! You should see the closest track that holds races........It is sooo rocky, makes my place look like sand. I bought a chest protector for that race only. My CTi2's have chunks taken out of them.
