    A Message from Garrett's Father...

Dear Michael, Nothing I say, nor anyone here, can ease your sorrow, but please know that we are all with you in your time of grief. All of these posts are a great tribute to an outstanding young man, and I hope that one day, my childen can touch as many lives as Garrett obviously did. We join you in mourning that he is gone, but also in rejoicing that he lived as magnificently as he did, and that it was our good fortune to have known him. All around-not MX-tires

Rudy, The 606 rear is not bad in soft terrain considering it is street legal and it wears like iron. The front 606, on the other hand, tends to wander around like a lost child in the sand. If you ride in the sand a lot, I would just surrender to the fact that you are going to have to run a soft terrain tire (Dunlop 755, 756, 773) and change it more often. The front lasts twice as long as the rear anyway.

  6. I received this from Sen. Sweeney. I think there has been such a flood of opposition, that perceptions are changing. Dear Mr. DiSabatino: Thank you for your correspondence concerning Assembly bill 2238. I have received dozens of letters concerning this issue. After further review of this bill and reading the thoughts of those I represent, I will not support such legislation if it is introduced in the Senate. I commend you for taking an active role in your government and providing first hand knowledge on an issue that effects the residents of the Third Legislative District. Please feel free to contact my office in the future. Sincerely, Senator Stephen M. Sweeney

    Best Advice Ever Given

If your credit card is stolen, think twice before reporting it. The thief is probably spending much less than your wife did. Lessons are repeated until they are learned.
  8. This is especially difficult for novice riders, (hell, it's sometimes difficult for everyone) but when you get into a difficult section of trail/track and your bike starts to wander sideways underneath you, or you get cross-rutted, whack the throttle - not the brakes. It goes against all common sense to speed up when it looks like you are going to crash, and your brain will fight you the whole way, but 9 times out of 10, you will squirt right through the tough section by hitting the gas, getting the front end light, and holding on tight with the legs.

    Electric Start

The pics of the WRs show a kickstarter also. That could mean: 1) Bike will have both E-Start & kickstarter. 2) E-start will be an option. 3) They used 02s for the pictures.

    battery problems-- S model

Can someone post how they modified the posts of the Powersonic to adapt to the bike's electric connectors? This sounds like the way to go. I have a 97 DR350, and it came with the same crappy battery that you newer DRZs are running. Mine is very weak and needs charging all the time. Consequently, I have become very proficient at bump-starting the bike. The trick is to get the piston just past TDC before attempting the bump start. This will enable it to gain some momentum before having to get past TDC again on the compressions stroke. To do this, put the bike in gear and push it backwards until it wont move. At this point, you should have it at just past TDC. Then, back in neutral, push it forward (preferably down a hill ) to get some speed, kick it in second, and as you drop the clutch, bounce your full weight on the seat to get maximum traction. Should start right up.
