Xr650l for 300lbs rider. Suspension worries?

Ill try it again soon but it seems turn back off if the bike revs up and shakes. It’s not a real big problem anyway because it only needs the choke to warm up a bit. I noticed it when I was testing the bike at different throttle positions like you said to to get a better idea on the jetting. I would be riding almost full throttle with the choke on and it would push it self back off. I started my bike today and gave it i good high rev with the choke on and it turned the choke off again

It could be. I put it hand tight then I couldn’t really get a wrench to fit I put it on after the carb was in. I tightened it a little more with pliers and taping the nut over with a screwdriver. I was afraid to tighten down too much because it’s plastic I didn’t know how tight to go. It did it the first time I put it on and I used a wrench and put it on before I installed the carb as well. I didn’t tighten real hard because the threads didn’t look the best and there plastic.

Would you still think I need to play with the cable adjuster based of that?

It seems to work on both positions when I rev the throttle hard it physically moves the choke lever back to no choke

I’ve got two last questions then hopefully I’ll be good for awhile. 1. Can I use Wd-40 to spray on the cylinder of my opened engine to protect it or should I use something else? 2. When I rev the throttle with the choke on it turns the choke off sometimes. Would that be because it’s not adjusted right or not screwed on tight enough?

Thanks for all your help with setting up my bike and the hundreds of questions you answered. You and everybody else that has helped me along the way with setting up my suspension, maintenance, and setting up the carb made me feel confident I could dive into working on things knowing I would probably find an answer for the issues that I ran into along the way on here. I’ll probably get into some engine mods in the future but for now the bike is much more enjoyable with the right suspension and the boost I got from the pipe, carb, and ignition. Plus I’ve learned a lot along the way. I ordered the Dunlop d606 120/90-18 so hopefully I can ride some if I get a warmer day it was around 50 the last two days here in Ohio but it will probably get in the 20’s soon

I used most of my fingers and swipe some very lightly and some with a little pressure. The darker fingers I pressed down more with and some spots weren’t as dirty What do you think? I’ve ridden on the exhaust for less than an hour with the new carb.

I ran my finger by the tip of my bike with it running it came back a little black wold that mean my jetting is too rich? It’s the new exhaust so it hasn’t been ran much on it

I have an aftermarket wheel so I’m double checking what size it is. This is what the rim and tire say on the rear: I noticed the tire said 120/80 instead of the Dunlop d606 saying 120/90 Is my wheel the same size as a stock one?

I’m trying to order a Dunlop d606 rear tire what size should I get? 120/90-18 Or 130/90-18 I think I’ve seen somewhere there is a 140/90-18 also. What size fits best
  11. I just recently put the fmf power core 4 muffler on my stock header. I too was wondering if the fmf powerbomb header was worth it. I can’t answer that but i noticed a significant performance gain with just the power core 4 slip on. It is a lot louder but it sounds way better too. It’s not a power change that will blow you away or anything just a bit of an improvement and my bottom end power feels good still. After I put the fmf power core slip on I then took out the snorkel and put a mikuni tm40 pumper carb on. Way better throttle response and the bike power wheelies in second gear now and goes up effortlessly in first gear. In my opinion you would be better off investing the money you would spend on the header in a pumper carb like the mikuni tm40 for an overall performance gain. The kit that includes everything you need for the carb brand new is $405 dollars from niche cycles or around $350 if you buy the parts separately and get adapters for the air box from another site. I think trying the fmf power core 4 for now would be a good start and a bit of performance boost, plus it sounds way cooler. I’d save your money for now and see what you think you can always add the header on after if you’re not satisfied with the exhaust after the slip on.

I not sure I tightened the choke down enough to the carb and if you have the choke on and hit the throttle hard it turns the choke off I didn’t wanna go crazy tightening it because it was plastic

I may even be rich now I’m not sure but I don’t feel too much like messing with it I guess I need to order a tire and pull the whey off the bike now

On another note if my bike ran really well, didn’t pop, and pulls hard does that indicate my jetting is pretty good? Choke gags it once it’s warm
