    te450 Value?

I agree with you 1 lunger. There are plenty of things I see for sale that I think are over priced. Now someone might come along and buy that item because it is a fair price to them. I was hoping to get $2300 for it after haggling. I think it is worth that. Now, can I find someone else with some cash in their pocket who agrees? Only time will tell.

    te450 Value?

Oh good question. I forgot to add. 4700 miles on the clock. I put an hour meter on it Jan of 2010 and it has 56 hours since then. I used it to commute in college and I'd guess that I put 1 mile in 10 of trail time. I bought it with 1800 miles in 2009 from the original owner.

    te450 Value?

Hey guys, I have a 2005 TE450 that I need to sell. I don't have time to ride it and I could really use the money. I wanted to see what you guys thought it was worth? It has an oversize fuel tank, uptite-Y, uptite skidplate, rigid led headlight, jd jet kit (with all the pieces and parts), wps lithium battery, fresh engine ice with new rad cap, brand new x-ring chain along with front and rear sprockets, new air filter with spare, new rear tire, new grips, oversize bars with matching clamps. The plastics have seen too much sun, but the seat does not have any cracks. The brake pedal is missing the little foot pad, but that was just how I ran it because I could grab it great with my boots and it didn't break off again in the technical stuff. It has acerbis hand gaurds but they are very faded, but in general good condition. The bike has not be ridden for a year. Just sitting with carb emptied and gas tank drained. In my state, Arizona, it can be plated no problem as it does have a stop/tail lamp. So how much do you think I could get for it? I know it has some age and the plastic is a little ugly, but it is a good bike.

    plastic question

I need new plastics for my 05 te450. I like the look of the new colors. Does anyone have a recommended source for red and black? I like the embedded graphics as well. So a set of 2010 2t 250 plastics should work for me? They all look the same but I want to make sure they actually fit... Thanks,

Yeah, I thought that it was a bit high. But looks nice. If you notice it is missing the rear brake pedal. He must have a lhrb. First things first.. I need to sell my current ride. Oh and thanks for welcoming me to the dark side!

So something like this? http://prescott.craigslist.org/mcy/3616331193.html That price seems a little high to me. Maybe that is a KTM thing too? Looks like this guy is trying to get more ROI on his upgrades than what he should.

    convert to ktm

I have been a husky owner for a while. I'm going to sell it soon and I'm looking at my options. Husky is in a constant state of falling apart. I did like my te450, but I think a bike that is a little smaller would be better. I know almost nothinga about KTMs. Years ago I had an idea about what was good and bad and so forth. Let me sum up what I know: RFS motors are reliable. Change the oil, adjust the valves, clean the air filter and ride. When ktm switched motors (2008?) there was a oil problem. I don't know what caused it or if it had a big impact to the wallet. the bikes are orange in color and the idiots who ride them seem to think they own the world.... Ok, that last one was just poking the dragon! I'd really like something that I could hit the single track with . Tight woodsy stuff and ledgy desert stuff. Something that can get my big (210 dressed out with all the riding crap) ass up the hill at 10k feet above sea level. Something that is reliable. I'm a mechanic so valves adjustments and oil changes are not a big deal. I would prefer a shim and bucket style valve as they seem to take less maintenance. I was considering the 350 and 400 platforms. I need a 6-speed. If it doesn't come with lights that is no big deal. I can throw a street plate on anything if I want (I live in an awesome state!). I am just in the considering stage. Doing my research so that when it comes time to buy something I can spot a good deal. I need to keep this on the down low, if my KTM friends find out I'm never going to hear the end of it! So what do you guys recommend? I'm looking at a future budget of around $4000 give or take a bit.

    Drivetrain parts

What are some good places to get a rear sprocket. CS sprocket and chain are really easy to find. The rear is a little harder

    Drivetrain parts

Must be pretty good to last 15 years!

    Drivetrain parts

I have had my bike for a year or 2 but it is now time to start replacing drivetrain parts. My current gearing is 13/50. I have started losing teeth on the rear sprocket. I'm not sure I want an aluminum rear sprocket, unless someone can justify why they are better than steel. So I need a set of sprockets and an o-ring chain. Was going to order some other stuff from Rocky Mountain MC, but I couldn't find husky parts there. So what do you guys recommend?

    Flagstaff Single Track CLOSED!

I agree that we are simply changing the party name but still getting to bigger government. It is going to be the way of the future unless a significant revolution occurs. I have close ties to the Forest Circus and this whole deal has really been a big bummer. I'm glad I got my laps at wing and the peaks loops when I did. I won't be posting up here when I do ride those areas, but send me a PM and I'll give you a phone call. Wouldn't surprise me of some FS goons were reading this crap. Keep on keeping on and stick it to the man!

    Loud new clicking noise

Glad to hear you had a similar experience. It just occurred to me tonight. I'll change the oil and the gas and go for a spin tomorrow after work.

    Loud new clicking noise

At low at the bottom end of gears under heavy load/acceleration with perfect traction. I took my 05 te 450, with approx 4750 miles and 150-200 hours, for a quick spin around slickrock to see how it was running last night. Part way through the trail (after waiting a bunch for my friend on a ktm.. ) I started hearing a clicking noise when I was at the bottom half of a gear. I heard it quietly in 1st, and loudly in 2nd and 3rd. I don't use much more than 3rd for Slickrock Trail... What could be my symptoms? I just did a valve check and valves spec'd out perfectly. I thought I had to adjust them because it was impossible to kick start 2 months ago when I killed the battery. I didn't do much with the bike for 2 months because I was busy working on my jeep and actually working for $$$. I tore it open this past weekend, checked the valves and reinstalled the charged battery. It fired right up with the e-start. So I took it out on slickrock. Everything was good until I started getting on the gas half-way through. Any ideas? It appears to be coming from the left side of the motor, so I am thinking perhaps it is the timing chain tensioner not working correctly? It idles fine and runs normally otherwise. Dan from motoxotica suggested that I check to see if the decomp part of the exhaust cam is functioning correctly. I don't know if that is what made it hard to kick over, or even how to check for proper function. Two things that are important to note are that I have 9 hours on 20w-50 fully synth oil and that the gas is 2 months old. Should I drain the gas and put new stuff in and go for a spin around the practice loop?

    valves 2005 te450

Could be. How do I check the decomp device for proper function? It starts great with the electric start. Even with 8 week old gas in it. The jetting is not corrrect. Just a little rich. I'm at 4500 feet and it is jet for sea level or so.

Btw, 4700 miles for reference. I've put 3k miles on in the last 18 months. Street and dirt. Valves have never been adjusted by me
