    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

    What size? 434?

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

I did have a chance to tear the bike down and I believe it's the big end or crank/connecting rod bearing that has seized. The crank will rotate in the bottom end, but it will only go as far as the connecting rod will allow it before hitting the case. The good news is the top end looked decent.

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

That's a good find. Due to a number of places listing their cranks fitting all years and models of DRZ (the kickstart model is different) I have found it hard to figure out who to trust. That one appears to be right though. For the price I'm thinking a complete motor swap is the best choice.

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

I appreciate all the help. I called hot rod cranks and a local Suzuki dealer to price an oem crank. Hot rod confirmed their part is for electric start only models regardless of the description listed. The Suzuki dealer mentioned that it appears that Suzuki is no longer making the OEM kicker crank. As a result, they were unsure of being able to source one. It appears my options are limited at this point. I will open the bike up hopefully soon and will post up some pictures of the findings. Thanks again guys.

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

In theory, could I get just the flywheel side case from a non-kicker DRZ and replace that and the bottom end would be essentially the same as the other DRZ models? Previously it was also mentioned that there is no stroker crank for the kicker. I have come across a couple different hot rod stroker kits that say they fit the DRZ400K, but is there a way to verify it truly could fit vs. the potential that someone just made a mistake in the description? I will call the manufacturer, but I figure even they might not have the same level of familiarity with the DRZ as some members on here.

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

I assume then the easiest way to make the stroker an option would be to then just find a stock E, S, or SM bottom end? The incompatibility is due to the stock kicker crank being lighter and smaller correct?

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

Thanks, thats a good point. I will have to dig into it. Taking it apart is the easy part fortunately. I did notice the tank was actually bone dry. And while it probably won't add much, the transmission does shift normally. And it's a 2001. Other than the seized motor, it is in decent shape overall surprisingly.

    DRZ400K Seized - Stroker?

Hey guys, Long story short, I picked up this DRZ kickstart model today for less than the cost of the FCR that's on it. That's the good news. The bad news, is that the motor is seized. The previous owner let it sit for an extended period of time. He then tried to get it running by having a shop clean out the carb. The shop got it running, but noted "the motor has an extreme noise like a rod bearing out or the piston hitting the head". Someone tried to start the bike again and it seized. Here's where I need opinions and input. Do I: 1. Rebuild with a 470 stroker? 2. Rebuild with stock parts? 3. Swap in a used engine? 4. Part it out? At the very least, I bought the bike as an investment. I'm looking for the most cost effective option, but also one that would make the bike the most fun if I end up keeping it. Anyone have experience with a stroker kit on a kickstart model? Thanks

DRZ pics, lets see your Z

I have had a K, S, SM, and 2 E's. Have tried a lot of other bikes, but really hard to beat the DRZ for all around utility and value. Favorite so far was the SM, but my current E model is gaining ground.

    DRZ400E with a 5.0 rear rim?

This is good news to me even though you do run a slick. I know slicks are typically not as wide as traditional street tires, but it is nice to hear nonetheless. In the past have you even ran a D.O.T. tire?

    DRZ400E with a 5.0 rear rim?

Anybody have experience with running a 5.0 rear rim on their DRZ? Hopefully picking up a spare set of SM wheels next week and the included rear is a 5 inch rim. Been looking around the internet and the info I have found is a bit limited. Specifically I am trying to see what tires will fit in combination with the rim and still clear the chain. I know 160's are not all the same width, but if anyone could give me some "skinny" 160 tires or knows of a set up that works that would be great. Thanks

    Electric issue-no power, good battery

I would bet you just blew a fuse. I had something similar happen a couple weeks ago while installing my new tail light. For me it was the 10 amp fuse that is located right near the top of the battery compartment. At least that is where I would start.
