  1. I have never ridden up there but am planing on being in the Denver area July 21st-27th. I would love to bring my family and our bikes (BRP,CR250,CRF230)and do some riding. Could I get some opinions for intermediate and advanced riding areas with camping and maybe some cabins? In reading the current posts Taylor Park seems like the place to go but is 250 miles from Denver. Is Taylor Park the place to go? Thanks for your help! David Gray davidg@cbstv2.com

    internal mods

What was the cost on the mods you did? Would you consider running octaine boost or is it racing fuel only? Did you bore it out or is it still 230cc? Worth the investment? Thanks DG

    internal mods

Ok my girlfriend has a CRF230 that she can touch the ground on, hit the e button and start on her own, and pick up when she crashes. So a CRF250 is not an option. She wants more power. The bike is already un-corked. Anyone done internal mods like a big bore and head work? What were your results with what mods? Any reliability issues? Cost? Thanks for sharing the knowledge. DG
  4. I just bought a used crf230 for my girlfriend, very clean with only scratches on the palstic. With in the first hour of riding (no crashes) the gear shift shaft broke off right at the shift lever. I am sure that the shaft had to have been cracked before I bought the bike or this is an extreamly weak component for what looks like a strudy bike. Does anyone know if you have to split the cases to replace this. Thanks David Gray

    used CRF230?

Where did you find one for #3,600. I have seen them on Cycletrader for as little as $2688 but that is in Ohio I think and not out the door. If any dealer can sell it for $2688 I would think that any dealer could sell it for that if they wanted to. What do you think? Have you seen them sell for $3600 OTD, if so where? Thanks for your help! David Gray

  13. Ok does anyone really know for sure what the cut off date is to apply for a street plate in Ca. I just bought a 2001 XR650R that I have not even picked up yet and I need to get it street legal and plated? Thanks for sharing the knowledge!!! David Gray dkgray136@yahoo.com
  14. I am looking for a dual sport for desert trips, Southern Cal to Mexico and the like. I have myself almost convinced that need an XR650R. The only concern is the weight. I am a 150 lb rider, which makes the KTM look a little easier to handle. Anyone have an opinion or some guidance or selling the right bike for me? :confused:Thanks David

Going to Baja on my XR650R

I am wanting to take a trip into Baja as well, I would appreciate hearing of your experience and contacts you make. I know lots of folks take trips down there but I have no info on how it is best done or where to go.
