  1. I think that the shock is the same for all years but do not know about the forks. Has anyone replaced either? Thanks, Chris

    02 YZ250F Needs Jetting Help.

    I checked the needle and clip setting and it's a stock needle with the stock #4 clip setting. I have not checked the pilot jet yet. I don't think this bike was modified except for the exhaust cam for auto decompression. Does that affect jetting needs? Thanks

  4. Hey Guys, I bought a used YZ250F that starts fine but burps after first gear like it's running rich. I was told it was stock, and the exhaust is, but the main jet is a 162s. I thought stock mains were #178, so I bought a 175 and it runs even worse. The jet looks dull, like it has been in the bike for a long time. Any ideas how to get back the stock settings and what the heck a 162s is anyhow? It was at sea level and now is at 5400feet, so it would make sense that it was running rich, but do I go to a 158 or 160? Thanks for any help. Chris

    It has the a plastic fuel tank. I tried the prime and that didn't seem to help. If I wait a few minutes it starts again. I appreciate all the help guys. Chris

    Vaccuum line is hooked up on both ends and the hose looks good.

    I used a 125 main jet since my dealer didn't have a 126, and a 25 pilot jet. I have the dynojet needle with the clip on the 3rd ring and all the stock spacers in it too, airbox hole, stock exhaust.
  9. I live at 5500 feet and followed Burned's jetting protocol for the DRZ400S. It doesn't pop anymore and has good power and sound. It doesn't smell like gas either, but it dies after 5 minutes and is hard to start again. I haven't check the plug again to look at color. Any ideas? Thanks for all the great info on this site. Chris

    Can I replace rear shock spring w/out removing it?

    Thanks for the info guys, I actually put in the new spring already and then realized that they sent the stock rate spring, so now I have to do it again. Chris
  11. Hey y'all, I got my new rear spring last week from race tech. After taking the whole rear shock off and removing it, and having half my bike on the floor in front of me, I wondered if there was room at the bottom of the shock to take off the circlip and aluminum spacer and pull the spring out without all the mess. Anyone tried this yet?
  12. Hey all, I searched a bunch of gearing threads and I am sure this has been answered somewhere but I couldn't find it. I am looking to ride short bits of highway from here to the track since I don't have a truck, and want to go with the lowest gear I can to top out around 75 actual mph. I have a 13 on the front but don't know if I like it. Could I go 14,51? Thanks. Chris
