    1999 Wr400 Clutch issues

Recently replaced the clutch with new plates, bolts and springs (TUSK brand). The clutch cable is adjusted but the lever has no spring, the push rod is engaging but the clutch is not disengaging. Has anyone had this issue, Im searching everywhere with not too many solutions. Ive gotten the clutch to feel normal but it hits the cover with the clutch lever pulled in, in gear ( This is with the ball bearing installed.) With the ball bearing installed or not the bike in first gear clutch out will act as if the lever is pulled in. I verified 7 steel plates and 8 friction plates. https://www.thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/183913-clutch-woes-updated/ This seems to be my problem, so I grabbed a 2001 wr426 bearing that goes between the push rod and the actuator to disengage the clutch. The bearing did not work and caused the clutch basket to hit the clutch cover in gear. Which leads me to believe that the bike did not have a ball bearing after all. I ordered a new clutch push rod just in case as mine looks pretty worn. Any suggestions?

    Supercharging a WR250x - Build thread

Very cool project, not sure it would be possible, but Ive read in car applications having the throttle body pre inlet of the supercharger helps with throttle response and to not blow open the throttle. Are you running a IAT sensor or just using the wide band senor to tune? Methanol would cool the intake temperature but cars use it in their trunk, but I can see the room restrictions. Impressive project you have.
  6. Im trying to find information on what it takes to make a yz250 street legal, I understand dot approved tires are needed as well as all the lights and turns signals. What else is needed?

Doesnt sound too bad, but where can I can power for the lights ?
  10. I would go with eric gorr, his 295 kit is great and I have his 144 kit on an older yz. Plus with wide gears and a bb that yz250 will flat out rip.

    Yz125, The Rebuild

Yesterday while out riding my old 2000 yz125 lost all compression within 10 mins of starting it. Went home and started tearing it down to see what happened. Ive raced across the Nevada desert, jumped it and ringed its neck out. When I first got it a couple years ago it didn't run well and I promptly blew a hole in the piston. So rebuilt it with some goodies(reeds, suspension, new tank, plastic, oversize handlbars, new pipe). After I got my new to me yz250 it sat for most of the time and was the loaner bike. It went from stock to this, Fast forward to yesterday and she gave out and I tore it down later that night. The piston got very hot and seemed to have melted, it is a weisco if that helps diagnose the problem. It had about 70-80 hours, I know it was long(very) due for a rebuild. What is everyone's opinion on what happened?I can get better pictures with a real camera. It always started first kick and had decent compression up until it died. The piston and cylinder have significant scoring on both. Since im in for a rebuild of the entire topend I'm sending it to Eric gorr soon to be made into a 144 Im going to start to use this bike as a training bike to get faster so I'm not going to do the typical appearance refresh. Its going to be an old bike with old plastics and a new 144 engine, I am going over the suspension and making sure it is top notch, or as best as I can get it. I may also re paint the frame as its pretty rough right now as well. Ill be updating this thread with updates and alot of pictures. Cant wait to get this going again.

    YZ144 woods bike build.

I had the 144 put in my 00 and I can say that its one fun bike on race gas and mid top porting. Its really seems like alot more power up top and everywhere with that old motor. Cant wait to hear what you think of yours.

    Simple horsepower question ...

It has alot to do with the power to weight ratio, an rm250 makes around 48 at 220#s while a 450# quad probably makes around 50. Its a no brainer
