    airbox lid?

You need to definitely take it off and simply monitor the drain plug.

    Jetting ?????

If you are pretty much at sea level, you need to open up the pilot jet. I'm on a 01WR426 and am always around sea level. The very first thing I did was go to a 48PJ and a 175MJ, providing you opened up the air box so it can breath, this is a must. You will get twice the punch on power as well by doing this. By the way, don't worry that by opening it up this much, you will start to fowl plugs.....because you won't. Trust me, you'll be thankful you opened it up like this.

    Acerbis Tank Installed (Photos)

Thanks a lot for the pictures. I am looking for a new tank and seat and was wondering how an Acerbis would look. Please indicate how you like it after your ride.

    Jets for a 01wr426 vs. 00wr400

Thanks, and I did get a little information that I need, but I am specifically trying to find out if the jets themselves are interchangable between the bikes. Not necessarily if the jetting is the same. I would like to know for example, if I pulled out a 48 main jet from a 00wr400, will if fit in a 01wr426. Hick answered some of that by saying they are the same carbs and so obviously they should use the same jets. I just want to make sure they are interchangable between the bikes. Thanks.
  5. Are all the carburetor jets, especially the Main and Pilot jets for a 01wr426 the same as a 00wr400? In other words, can I use the jets from a 00wr400f in my new 01wr426f? In addition, I was informed that the jets for a 01yz250f are even the same as a 01wr426f and a 00wr400f. Can anyone verify this? [This message has been edited by Powerband (edited 03-04-2001).]

    WR426 or WR250

Trust Me! Get the 426. I just went through the same situation and I am only 5'11" and 165lbs. I purchased a yz250f and could not believe how small it felt and how much more like a 125 it is than a 250. Fortunately, I have a 14 yr old nephew and the 250f was his dream bike, so now he has it. I just purchased the 426f and am so much happier all around. The yz and wr 250f's are for teenagers. [This message has been edited by Powerband (edited 02-28-2001).]

01'WR still not right. HELP !

What are your jet settings right now? I had the exact same problem and just kept bumping up the pilot and main until the sputter went away. I am now at a 172 main, 48 pilot and 1 1/2 turns out on the pilot fuel screw, middle position on the clip and it runs perfectly.
  8. By crapping out, do you mean sputtering or the bike actually nearly dies and stalls?

    The 2001 Throttle stop

In the March 2001 edition of Dirt Bike magazine, they have reviewed the 01wr426f. They indicate in the review on page 48 to file down the limiter to 23mm including the allen head.

    YZ SEATS FOR SALE

Michael, Do you know for certain that a 01yz426f seat and tank will fit exactly on a 01wr426f? The reason I am asking is I have a 01wr426f and I would rather spend the money for a yz seat and tank from Yamaha rather than a third party if I knew for sure it fit perfectly. I don't want to mess around with cutting and fitting, etc. If it does work, where can I actually get the best deal for a 01yz426f seat and tank? Thanks. Dry Weight for 2001 yz250f/wr250f /wr426f

I just wanted to inform everybody that in the March 2001 edition of Dirt Bike magazine, they have the running weight with no fuel(all fluids in except for gas) for the all stock wr426f at 260lb. By the way MLN, that makes your estimate almost perfect if not the correct one. Thanks. [This message has been edited by Powerband (edited 02-17-2001).]

Do you live in West Virginia or Maryland? I am kind of confused.
  15. Does anyone in the world have any weight measurements for the 2001 yz250f/wr250f/wr426f? [This message has been edited by Powerband (edited 02-16-2001).]
