    79 cent clutch fix

Works for me too, but I think this is more of an issue with wr's
  2. I'd have to strongly agree with Whiteman, if you ride enduros in Ontario/Quebec S12 are what you'll find on the majority of machines.

    U.S. WR250F vs. Canadian WR250

That and the jetting is very different. I'm not sure about the CDI numbers but the exhust baffle IS removable. My 98 wr400 baffle was not removable In about a year from now I should be move to SC so maybe you could just try it your self.

    Oh the horros! (siezed bike)

250Thumpher Just a thought, but since you said this happened after you had the frame powder coated maybe there was some sand/grit in the oil tank part of the frame? That would explain the dirty oil. How clean was it when you reassembled it...even though they masked it off doesn't mean any sand/grit found it's way inside. Bill

  10. Just a quick question about replacing fork seals. Should I put on some kind of grease on the tube side of the seal or should I just lube it with fork oil?

    fork seal replacement?

So fork oil it is........thanks e. myers Where abouts in SC are you? I'm heading down to my brothers not far from Greenville, hope to checkout the GNCC race in Union SC on the Sunday. Any good riding areas around there? seems the only riding my bro does is when I'm down
  12. So I'm learning how to rebuild/re-valve a shock on my 90 yz250wr and have a few questions about nitrogen pressure. I have access to nitrogen at work so that's not a problem, also made-up a fitting. 1-Should I stick to yamahas spec of 128psi? 2-What type of results would I expect if I increased the pressure? 3-Why nitrogen and not air? my guess is nitro is more stable temp wise yes/no? TIA
  13. TiN(titanium nitride) is an extremely hard thin film coating using the PVD(physical vapor deposition) process, hardness-as hard as carbide(that's why you get the gold colour) and excellent lubricity. If anyone thinks that appling some "snake oil" on your forks will get you the same results then........... I'm in the process of building-up a yzf750 and plan on TiN coating the tubes. Fighting friction on road race bikes is more important than a dirt bike. These coatings were meant more for short travel suspension. When your leaned over scraping your knee at +100mph in a turn you want to make sure your wheel is following all the imperfection of the track. That doesn't mean dirt bikes should not be coated, I'd like to do my wr250f also. Understand that the forks are already a hard face chrome and the TiN is applied over the chrome. This process WILL NOT repair any nicks or scratches in the tubes. I'm a tool and die maker by trade(toolie) and most of the dies coming from Japan have punches that are TiN coated. The cost of coating 1 punch ie 10mm x 30mm is $10 CAN. If you get yours done cut out the middle man.........this is the cheapest I've found on the net that looks like they know what there doing http://www.racinglinks.co.nz/titanium%20nitride.html

WTD: Shim Stack rec for 03 YZ250F

PT564 Nice work! Keep working at it looks like your on the right track. Have you heard of these guys http://www.suspensionnetwork.com/ you can post shim stack and compare. They have also excellent tutorial on how suspension works. Since you don't mind sharing, how do you fill the shock with oil without getting air in the fluid?

Ever think about using your original rims and getting them anodized black? Depending on how bent it is you should be able to straighten them out by heating them up. Just a thought............hmmm how about TiN coating the tubes!

    Canadian WR250's

My 04 baffle is bolted a la US spec, as for grey wire and throttle stop no worries, does not apply up here. I use to have a 98 wr400 and it never had a throttle stop, look at your owners manual, jetting between US an Canadian models are way different. This spring I'll have my air box mod done, top lid/battery removed replaced with a SLA UB1213 battery and a custom bracket. P.S. anybody from Canada tells you other wise they've been smokin too much BC bud.
  17. Anyone going to the Terra Nova Enduro, unfortunatly I'm still not ready to ride a 160km event. .........but if you go watch for the guy having a cold Canadian :cry:/Coors Light at one of the checks. Should be nice and greasy

    spark plug tool

My spark plug tool wrench from my wr400 does not fit the wr250. They both take the same plug? why different tool. I did not get a tool with my wr250, do they not supply the tool with the bike anymore?

Difference between US and Canadian wr450

WARRANTEE We don't need no stinking warrantee! Warning labels are bilingual To my knowledge here is no warrantee on competition machines sold here. However, I broke the kickstarter on my 98 wr400 and the dealer replaced it free. That's another reason why I bought my 04 from them....http://www.machineracing.com/main/main.asp ........sorry for the cheap plug.
  20. Didn't he also say you need 10psi oil pressure per 1000rpms? 13.5(1000)rpm x 10psi = 135psi That 01-02 reusable mesh oil filter in my 04 is looking pretty good right now........

Calabogie......cooool You are talking about the trail ride sept 11-12th? Depending on how I feel, getting over broken leg 3 months ago, I'd like to go if I can con a friend to go with. When did they stop doing the Calabogie Enduro? I remember riding it a few years ago. I also hear someone is building a road track out that way....

Lots of spots up here, although you do have to have your machine registered green or blue plate. Not really into mx tracks, but if you like trails as tight as your handlebar are wide, roots and ruts then Simcoe County is the place to be ........... it's not all that tight.
  23. Drtbykr Pretty good racing eh! I was at the CMRC Nationals at RJs north of Barrie, hot sunny and loads of eye candy Nice to see Blair in the top 3 after a crazy accident last year there a good article about Blair in the Canadian edition of "Racer X" As for JSR...he's amazing to watch! The 250s still leading the 250 class and a 125 won the 125 class???? wow go figure. The 250f dominated the 125 class at RJs, its not even fair....I hear romurs of class restructuring in the works....any word? That's too bad about your machine....If you were closer you could borrow my YZ or WR400.

    Oil filter??

Hey you took my post! I just bought an oem filter $$$ first break-in oil change. I called Royal Distributing and they said flow pro makes a filter for $6. Now another question would be is anyone using a yamahas 1UY re-usable oil filter from the 98wr400?....they look interchangeable. Yamaha must be after the money.....paper oil filters replacement cost!!!!!!
