  1. take that brand new bitch back to the dealer,theres no telling whats wrong with it,it could be a simple dirty carb but if its not and you tear into the bike and void the warranty then what do you do.the bike came out of the crate brand new and it wont run?take it back man.your warranty may be the only thing that saves you.

    yea,its normal for the bike to be hard to push with the clutch in when its cold and easy when its warm or hot.all bikes are like that so that is normal.but it looks like im gonna have to pull the motor of my bike and disasemble the entire engine to get to the transmission and replace the 1st gear and probably the shifter barrel.honda wants about a thousand bucks to do the repair so *** that i think ill take my chances and do it myself.good luck buddy and thatnx for replying to my post... mike

    2001 xr 650l need help

    i really didnt notice this untill the back tire started to get bald?at 1st i just thought that the back tire was spinning and slipping because it was bald,but it should do it in second gear also,but it only does it in 1st,im the only guy who rides this bike and i dont abuse it at all.id hate to have to try my luck at tearing this motor apart,just the thought makes me sick cause this bike is in new mint condition only 1500 miles.i wonder if by a freak chance something did go wrong when i droped it in 1st gear without pulling in the clutch?im at a loss and i dont think that i can live with it.the honda shop said it would cost almost a thousand buck to take it apart and fix it,im a car mechanic not a motorcycle tech,but for that kind of money i might give it a whirl.

    hey dave,i didnt think that it would hurt it,ive done this sever times on other bikes and never had a problem,the engine was at an idle when it happened.i just cant figure this out? any ideas

    man o man,i just dont know what to think.the only thing that happened was,one time i accedentaly put the bike in 1st gear without pulling in the clutch,i know its not good but i was in a really big hurry when i did it.but i dont remember having a problem with it after that happend.it was about a month later if i recall.

    2001 xr 650l need help

    hey guys,i got a 2001 honda xr650l with only 1500 miles on it,the last few times ive ridden it ive noticed that when im in 1st gear and i accelerate,the bike has a skip or a hop,the back tire kinda spins, slips and then grabs as if i have a broken tooth in 1st gear? it only does this in 1st gear all of the rest are fine,the bike has all the mods except high compression piston and cam.the chain and sprockets are new so it not the sprockets?its not the clutch slipping either,i just dont get it,it really acts like i have something broke in my 1st gear.but 1st gear does still work,when i take off really easy it dosent seem to do it as much.but when i take off normally or especially if i nail the gas it really just ****s up?any ideas,please help cause i dont want to have to split the cases on the near new motorcycle motor.thanx soo much

    well damn that sux,but i appreciate the help.did someone say a cdi from a 400ex will work?has anyone actually done this with good results?oh by the way where is the cdi located on the xr650l,theres just too many little boxes on the bike for me to pinpoint.

    1996 honda xr600r carb question

    i hear that i can modify my carb on my 96 xr600r,i have a fmf slip on pipe and a k&n air filter,i recently took the the jets up a notch from a 62 to a 65 and a from a 152 to a 155,can i go bigger than that on the jets,i heard you can drill a out the hole in the slide on the carb for better performance.any advice will be appreciated.thanx

    hey man thanx for the advice and the cool pic!! where can i find a pumper carb and how much do they cost?also what else can i do to uncork this thunmper and get more horsepower?i heard that they make a power up kit for the bike but i cant find one.what can i do to it without digging into the motor itself? thanx alot mikebrockwell@yahoo.com
  14. i have a 1996 honda xr600r,i just cleaned out the carb and replaced the jets,but everytime i nail the throttle really fast it boggs down like it just lost fuel,it does this when im riding it and when its at idle?i installed a hotter spark plug to help but it didnt help?is this normal for this bike to act like this?after it boggs down sometimes it will go wide open like ther was a loss of fuel for a second or two,but other than that the bike runs great,as long as i ease the throttle back at a normal pace it dosent bogg down? any ideas?
