    07 KX250F carb base settings

Why would I need a new pilot jet if the one thats in it has no oxidization, looks new, and is perfectly clean? Genuinely wondering, not trying to sound like a smartass. I'm not too familiar with these newer 4 stroke carbs with accelerator pumps and all that, maybe theres something I'm missing. I removed the float bowl and all the jets/float/needle. It looked like a brand new carb. I spraying thru every passage anyway to be sure. I didn't pull the top off the carb because i assumed that had to do with the throttle slider and linkage, which all seemed to be working (other than a tad loose in the bore) and I'm pretty sure fuel/air don't flow thru the throttle linkage area of the carburetor under that top cap. I could be wrong, like I said I'm not super familiar with these newer carbs. I'll look into the sides/slide plate and see what they cost. Side note, went for a ride today thru the trails. the bike runs mint at low RPM, crawls thru trails no problem, pulls hard and strong with no breaking up all the way to full throttle, and its starting to run a bit longer when you pull in the clutch, IE idle a tad before it stalls. The bike didn't get too hot, its not blowing black smoke. It just seems to be an idle issue. It also can be a bitch to start once its warm though, but it will start.

Haven't been able to get it to keep a solid/consistent idle. Sometimes it idles at 2800-3000, rev it a few times, then it'll just stall when you aren't revving it. Then it'll idle high. Dunno, strange. Revs out clean, no popping on decel, pulls strong. The inside of the carb is spotless, all the jets are clean. It has a remote fuel screw, can't remember the name. A friend of mine installed it when he owned the bike before me and he runs a bike shop, and rode this bike, and knows what hes doing so I trust that. The bike did idle when it was put into storage in winter of 2013, but the carb is clean as a whistle. One thing I've noticed, the throttle slider is very slightly loose in the bore. it slaps around when you tap it from the back or front. It doesn't shake around or anything, but if you tap it with your finger you can tell its got a tiny bit of play and does make a tapping noise. The return spring is right. I haven't taken the top cover of the carb off (where it says "CR"). Other than that, the old hot start cable nut (plastic) stripped out and I replaced it with one of the aftermarket aluminum ones, with a fresh new O ring. Should seal fine. I also checked and yes, the hot start plunger is moving and free.

Awesome, exactly what I needed to know. The bike will start after some coaxing, it revs out great but it won't idle for sh*t. The carb is spotless, I'll adjust the fuel screw and see if I can get it tuned out. I'd like to have the bike ready for a ride this week.

    07 KX250F carb base settings

Alright guys, I need some help. Can anyone tell me what the base settings on a KX250F carburetor would be? I downloaded the service manual but couldn't find it, neither in the carburetor section or the fuels system specs section. Just wondering if anyone knew where the screws are set at the factory so I can go from there. I'd be chasing my tail if I put the screw at 1.5 turns out and the base setting was 3 turns out. Let me know, thanks
  5. Hey guys. I'm 5 foot 5 and I've got myself an 01 YZ 426F. Its in the process of having the motor put back together, so I've been searching for options for lowing this thing. I hear of a "subframe mod" but no one ever explains what it is in the slightest, or has pics, or a tutorial, or any places that do the mod. Could someone let me in on this secret mod? I can find ANYTHING on the web about it, just it being mentioned. Also, it doesn't look like theres much seat foam to cut, but is that a good idea with these bikes? I'm looking into a Yamalink lowering link but 170 bucks seems really expensive for just a lowering link and I can't find any others. Suspension revalve or something along those lines is not an option for me, I'm 17, broke, and I ride for fun, mostly trails, so a whole suspension job is not in the cards right now. Please no comments saying "get used to it" or "find a nice place to put your foot when you stop". I'd feel much more confident on a 260 pound 50hp motorcross bike if I could atleast touch the ground . Also, I am an experienced rider and have no problems on big bikes other than touching the ground
  6. Will the bottom fork clamp and top clamp from a 2008 DRZ70 fit in the head tube of a CRF 70?
  7. Hey guys I have the old style 2000 XR 70 and dislike the old style appearance. I have a full 2000 XR 70 bike that I put a lot of money into, can I buy a CRF frame, tank, plastics, and seat and put everything from the XR minus that onto the CRF frame and have a CRF full bike?
  8. Hey guys, I have a real nice 2007 KTM, ported and polished head, DR. D pipe, fresh engine rebuild with a new crank (failure after 1 year of racing). Other than graphics and whats mentioned its a stock bike. My buddy just got an 09 Honda CRF250R in like-new condition with almost no hours on it (still has the nipples on the tires!). The bike is bone stock. We were discussing a trade. Tomorrow, Sunday, I plan on going riding over there and we will swap bikes back and forth and see which I like best. It seems with the KTM that if the front ain't hopping around then the ass end is. I'm interested in seeing how the CRF handles. I ride a lot of tight woodsy stuff but also fields and MX/jumps. Could anyone give me advice or their opinion on the subject? I have to admit I am fearful of the KTMs reliability, I've only put 10 hours on it max but I hear some horror stories. But, I love the hydraulic clutch and 6 speed gearbox!

    1984 XR 200R - The BEAST

So If I went out there and cut the dark green wire, and the black/white wire I should have spark?

    1984 XR 200R - The BEAST

Would they have to be connected to run, or disconnected to run?

Yeah I checked the frame and its a XL200R. Well damn. Anyway, how would I get around this switch? there is no key switch on this one btw

    1984 XR 200R - The BEAST

Mine is a 3 positing rotating switch like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Honda-XL250-XL-250-XR-Engine-kill-run-switch-hand-control-/230743863820?hash=item35b967f20c&item=230743863820&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_1831wt_1071 but mine has a 3-wire connector that connects it to a harness, with a seperate black/white wire connector

I think theres a couple wires joined in on the connector from the front brake light switch on the handle bars. I'll figure this thing out eventually!

    1984 XR 200R - The BEAST

Thanks for the diagram! I'm confused though, the off-on-off rotating switch on the handlebars has several wires going from it to the harness, including a connector with 3 wires built in, which fits into a corresponding plug in the harness. There is also a black and white wire that comes from the switch and runs next to, but seperate from the 3 wire connector. I am trying to figure out which wires to wrap together to get spark...

    1984 XR 200R - The BEAST

I just picked up a 1984 Honda XR 200R. This thing is all steel except the fenders and seat cover! It is a tank. Anyway, I got it a real good deal on it because the kill switch is bad. The guy let his brother ride it, who had no 2 wheel experience prior, and he made it 12 feet and dropped it. A corroded wire came loose from the switch and now it has no spark. So I am looking for a wiring diagram, or service manual pdf. Not looking to spend anything on a manual just to figure out the wiring. I want to wire in your standard MX bike style push-to-shut-off switch. Anyway, can anyone provide me with a wiring diagram or service manual pdf? I really wanna get this thing going!
