    Yz250 wr 1st gear

That would be sweet. I don't really need 5th though. I tried a 12t front and it just didn't work. All of the gears were too short.

    Yz250 wr 1st gear

Its not the stalling i struggle with. Its That im so low with my rpms in 1st the bike struggles with gnarly uphill stuff so im always running the clutch.

    Yz250 wr 1st gear

Darn. Its hard to find a wr trans used these days and the parts new are pretty spendy. Id rather cheat with a rekluse!

    Yz250 wr 1st gear

It will sound odd to most, but has anyone swapped the first gear from a wr, and left the stock 2-5 alone? I did some searching, but didn't find anything. I do slow high elevation mountain riding. With my 13-50 gearing i find 5th high enough 99% of the time. Most of the time i use 2nd. 1st is only used for slow gnarly stuff and i wished it was lower. Can it be done?

    YZ 250 Lowering Link Needed?

I did the yamalink lowering link just recently. Had to up to a 5.7 I think? Spring. I definitely don't regret it. I'm only 5'7" and it worked wonders for me. Important to note, my rear tire will hit the fender on hard landings. I don't worry about it much since I mainly do Enduro where I have to touch a lot. When I head to the sand dunes, I swap to the stock link. Only takes. Few minutes.

    suzuki NECJ needle

Thought I would bring this back up. Bike is a 2002. Stock bore, squish at .045 or .050? I can't remember. Gnarly and tc2. 5000ft on up to 8000ft. Testing is around the house at 5000. My starting point is: 162 main, nedj-2, 40 pilot, 40 power jet ground my slide to #8. Bike is unhappy pretty much everywhere. Very slow and poor response. Motor even seems louder now for some reason. What should I do next? i raised the clip position to one and that made a big difference. After a very short 5 mile test up the road I have spooge running down the muffler already. Might try a 38 pilot. Just seems like a low pilot number.

I went ahead and did the n3ej on position 1. Smoke got better at 1/2 throttle and up. I really tried to pay attention to how I ride today. I spend like 90% of my ride at 0-1/4 throttle. Spooge still on it's way to the bottom of the muffler after a decent ride. I hope the nedj Suzuki needle will help the 0-1/4 throttle rich spot. I think the stock straight portion is too narrow for my bike at 5000 ft and up.

At our main area this weekend. Around 6000-7000 ft. Top end is still pulling good. Much less smoke at wot than last weekend with the 172. Upper rpm mid range is really snappy. Bottom end was really laggy. I swapped to a 42 pilot and ran the air screw around 1.5 turns out. Definitely helped. Now, when I'm lower rpm and quickly do half throttle open the pick up is pretty darn slow. I don't know if I'd call it a bog. Just a slow rpm pick up. Smoke at half throttle is pretty noticable. Should I try my stock n3ej Needle on position 1? I think that would be half a step leaner than my n3cj-2. Spooge is much better. Went on a decent fairly technical ride this morning and the tail pipe looks like this.

Actually testing. I don't do any testing on a stand in neutral.

I tried running the screw in. Didn't seem to help. Should I bump to a 48 pilot? Just to clarify, that's from an almost idle to a quick half throttle twist.

Well I got a real short road ride in. Wide open is actually better now. Less smoke and pulls harder. Plug was a nice dry brown after running through the gears and cutting it out. Mid range is about the same. I noticed now, cruising at 1/8th throttle it runs totally clean. No inconsistency. Bottom is probably worse. If I'm idling in 1st and chop the throttle quick like to hop a log, it pretty much dies now. Should I drop the pilot next? Raise or lower the needle? I ordered a nedj to try next.

Thanks for the help everyone! Slide looks great. Solenoid is working fine, and the tps gains resistance as I raise the sensor. I custom ground my 7 slide to a number 8. I installed a 165 main and 45 pilot. Left the n3cj needle at position 2. It's currently raining but when it stops I'll try this. Next I'll dig out my old go pro and try to post a video.

Thanks. I'll pull the carb, take a picture of the slide and check the tps and power jet solenoid.

I'll give it a try. thanks. Anyone know how to check the electronics on the carb? I don't recall seeing anything in my service manual.

Well I'm out of ideas. I have checked pretty much everything. I changed both crank seals. They looked great when I pulled them. Here's the list. New top end about 20 hours ago, new crank seals, new reeds with top end. They still look perfect, I set the timing to stock, repacked the muffler, fully cleaned carb. I completely tore the power valve system apart. Everything looked great and operation was smooth. I checked the location of all the components with my service manual. Smoke is still pretty bad. A 10 minute ride had spooge coming out of the muffler already. Top end feels strong. Mid-range pull is ok. The low rpm hesitation/bog is really bothering me. Currently at: 172 main, n3ck needle on clip 2, 40 power jet, 40 pilot. 1.5 turns out. I was on Position 1 and 42 pilot. Swapping both at different times netted pretty much no change. Currently at 5000ft elevation at the house.
