04 CRF250 will only kick up with a specific sequence

Surely its not right for them to have to be kicked like this though. I have read somewhere people grinding the auto-decompression cam down which is meant to help it start. You would have thought Honda would have designed it to kick up easy enough ey!
  2. Hi, Ive had trouble kicking my 250 from cold and thought it was the valves, but they are fine. The bike bumps really easy, and I have now learnt how to kick it using a certain method; petrol and choke on, kick the bike over a few times, find top dead centre when the cam clicks pull the throttle a few times to fuel the carb and then kick! the bike will 7/10 start this way. Can anybody tell me what seems to be wrong with the setup, is there anything a can alter for the bike to start easy? I have read alot of threads saying there is just a certain nack to kicking them- but surely it shouldnt be that complicated?? Cheers!!

CRF 250 will not kick up!?

Is there a way of telling the valves are nacked by looking at them once dissembled? Or is it a matter of me changing them and hoping it cures the problem? Cheers for the help!

CRF 250 will not kick up!?

Not that I know of, Ive Only just got the bike. If the compression pressure isnt upto spec then I can pinpoint the valves. Anybody know if the carb set-up would effect it not kicking? I re-set the fuel screw to the spec 1 1/2 turns out.

CRF 250 will not kick up!?

Hi My 2004 CRF250 will not kick up, but will bump start easily. I thought it was the valve clearances but they are all fine. Im waiting on a compression tester to come, but the compression feels ok. Any ideas on what could be a matter with it? Ive also had the carb stripped and cleaned. Cheers

  7. Hi, I'm carrying out some research to see how often people change their fork seals due to failure and leaking of oil. If you could reply with how often you change them and what bike you have that would be great, any info on old bikes would be good too! Cheers

    2006 oil pump problem

I have recently brought a 2006 RMZ 450 with parts of the engine missing, I am begining to buy these parts and build the bike back up. Ive brought all the oil pump components from a breaker, and looking at the manual all the parts are there and they look correct for the model. When assembling the oil pump section 2, which is the magneto side, the rotar set fits into the hole in the crankcase, but then the cover section is not able to fit on properly, due to the rotar set seeming to big. Has anybody experienced this assembly problem, or could possibly give me the dimensions for rotary set 2? HELP! Cheers
