ok i did a search and couldn't find the info....so let me ask, What, Where, When, How Long, and How Much? Chuck
  3. don't forget the KTM Pen too!!!!
  4. Ok, here's a question, Does anyone know if the spark plug fires during the exhaust stroke as well as the compression stroke? I recently did cam bearings, and water pump seals. didn't break the chain to do the cam bearings....anyway, i went to adjust the valves and realized i'm 180 degrees out of "time". I don't want to tear this thing apart again. i put my lift guage on the valves it and i can find top dead center without having to use the TDC bolt. I don't mind being 180 out, but if the plug doesn't fire on exhaust then it aint gonna run and it will mean another tear down. let me know.... thanks in advance... Chuck

    Former Yamaha Owners

WR400Rock, I made the switch last year from a 99WR to the 520MXC and am very happy. Power is better and it's delivery is much smoother. The suspension was pretty much dead on out of the box, although i am having problems with a little front end push. The MXC is awesome wether you go 400 or 520. The weight difference isn't all that much compared to my WR but it doesn't feel that way. The KTM seems to distribute it better. besides elec. start, linkless suspension, auto decompress (no starting drill required here). no shims needed for valve adjustments, pro taper style bars, hyd. clutch....you get the picture...The bikes are awesome. Don't get me wrong though, the Yamaha was awesome as well, great power, and the handling especially was awesome in my opinion. I've even ridden a couple of 426's too. For some time i actually had both bikes and would ride one on a sat and then the other on sunday just trying to figure out which to keep. Obviously i choose the KTM. Be aware, all brands will have their share of issues. the KTM's do have their issues just as Yamaha has some issues with theirs. Cam bearings (which i'm replacing at the moment), leaking case gaskets, and i've even seen 1 motor failure and have heard of a few as well... go Orange and you wont be dissapointed! but no matter which way ya go good luck! oh ya, i almost forgot, you can also Ride Red now, Yellow, or Green. ya there are a few more but i aint gonna list them all... 18MM TRIPLE CLAMPS

Hey guys, i've heard/read alot of talk about the 18mm clamps helping with headshake, how about front end push. I've tried adjusting the clickers as well as sag. i still notice the push no matter what the condition. i've switched tires as well, even with the dunlop up front the push still seems to be there... any other ideas or experiences??? thanks Chuck

    Downsizing from the 520 EXC

Dirt Bike Dad, i went to the 13 tooth CS on my 520 and didn't have to change a thing... Keep the 520, take your time and learn throttle control. I ride east Coast as well, Mostly Mass. woods. i thought mine was too much for the woods as well, especially the tight rocky stuff. I realized i was over-driving the bike. concentrate and let the bike do the work for you. these things are just about dead on out of the box. i came from a '99WR400 and even though i think both have quite a few similarities, you've got to ride them differently. I've ridden both the KTM's, 400 and the 520, and the 520's got it when you need it. Either way, good luck with whatever decision you make... -Chuck
  10. Anyone heard about this. I was told the town is shutting it down due to safety issues...It's always packed there throughout the riding season and you can always catch a few throughout the winter months as well. For the most part people did respect each other as well as authority, although there was the occasional jerks that had to screw down the road racing each other.... It'll be a shame to see it go if it's true. Chuck

    Simple Green my friend!!!

Dougie, be careful with the castrol super clean. i noticed it dulled the finish on all the alluminum parts on the bike. i never diluted it with water but anything that strong you might want to think twice about. oh ya, it'll also significantly reduce the life of your air filter as well. That stuff is killer. Chuck

I was unable to sign in for a while so i'm not sure who is stil linterested in everything. If any of you guys are, send me an e-mail or just reply to this. I'll go in order of the original e-mails received. I guess Cobra2go is first in line based on the e-mails i had when i got home tonight. unless someone before him replies.... sorry for any confusion. chuck
