    1991 Honda Cr Kickstart slip

Hi , yes I did after constantly stripping it and rebuilding , trying various washers etc it dawned on me that I still had the old spring , so I cut that in half and used that with the new spring and it seems to be doing the trick , it slipps on the odd occasion when the bike is cold but when it is warmed it kicks fine. I am sure the ratchet gear must have a very tiny amount of wear so they will need replaced eventually if the problem persists just seems that Honda should have used a stronger spring ?

    1991 Honda Cr Kickstart slip

Hello all , not been on this forum in an age ! Just to re-introduce myself , my names Dave , im from scotland and i study motorcycle mechanics at college , i am now in my third year and i'm mainly into 2 strokes , i am currently working on a 1991 honda cr 250 fixing it up for my brother , the bike has had a complete engine rebuild and most cosmetic parts aswell , the problem i am having is the kick shaft is just slipping or crunching and not engaging when you apply force to kick it , it will go down by hand and not slip , i have checked all parts and measured them , they are all serviceable , all washers and springs have been replaced with genuine parts also , the splines on the kick start + shaft are both fine as are the teeth on the 2 matching gears , it has been set up according to the manual ensuring that i have aligned the 2 dots for the return spring and have also used the parts fiche to ensure all washers are correctly placed , if anyone could think of anything atall that could help me try to solve this problem i would really appreciate it thanks in advance, Dave.

    peewee 80 problems

not that m8 thats already been removed , so has the baffle in the exhaust and the self mix has been disconnected aswell i honestly ran very poor when i started it like it had a bad plug in it but the plug was brand new , the piston had just been changed , the carb floats had been set to roughly 21mm the manual states they should be 20.8-22.8mm so should be ok , the main jet is supposed to be a 125 stock but i noticed a 110 has been fitted and the needle clip is on the 3rd position , as soon as i removed the snorkle it seemed to want to revv out more so im at a loss any help would be appreciated

    peewee 80 problems

hi all , not sure if i shouldve posted this here but its a yamaha 2 stroke anyway lol if theres a peewee section feel free to point me in a different direction , bike is a yamaha pw80 1998 model im led to believe , anyway brother got his missus a yz85 n was too fast so bought her a pw80 , first time we went out on it it was running very poor so i thought it would be best to clean the carb , change the piston and airfilter and to make sure i was running the correct mix , so all of this done i kicked the bike and it started but was the same it would not rev out atall so i stripped the carb again to clean everything and changed the plug , bike was the exact same , so i pulled the snorkel from the carb and it seems to run better and would rev out more so i think its not getting enough air ? is this a common problem and also would the float height or jetting cause these problems ? thanks

Bore / Piston Sizes + Clearance

hi thanks for replying , are you saying i need to send my cylinder away to be bored out by .01mm ? or could i do this myself ? its odd why they dont make the 66.33 pistons now ... i must not be the only person who has had this trouble thanks again i just want to make sure my piston / cylinder clearance will be spot on

Bore / Piston Sizes + Clearance

hello all , stripped my 250 97 down for a top end job and in need of advice right my cylinder is an ' A ' and the manual states this should be 66.398-66.405 however mines measures 66.392 the piston i removed measured 66.249 and was an oem with no markings on top , the manual states that i should use a piston of size 66.33 which would be the ' A ' piston leaving a clearance of .06 as my cylinder has little to no wear somehow , but i cannot for the life of me find a piston this size .. the manual states i should have a clearance of .06-.075mm so does this mean i can only use a piston sized 66.33 ? all i can find are 66.34/.35/.40 ??? i heard that honda stopped making the ' A ' and ' B ' pistons which might be why i am having trouble sorry for the hassel and thanks for the help in advance anyone who has expierienced anything similar with their 250 would be a massive help

    cr250 crankshaft recommendations

hi all been a while since ive been on , sold my ktm and got a cr 250 and now it sounds awful so going to inspect the crank as the manualrecommends , anyway my lecturer told me his mate had the exact same bike as mine ( 97 cr 250 ) and told me the guy had major problems withwiseco cranks he said he got one , it ruined his bike and under warranty wiseco sent another one out , same thing happened again , was just wondering if anyone has used a wiseco crank and had the same problems , i was going to send the crank away to get overhauled but saw a vid on youtube stating that the cr cranks are made of soft metal and if you try to press them apart they just squash under the pressure any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Quote MultiQuote Edit
