    YZ80 oil in the coolant!?

Well after a year of sitting i decided to do a leakdown on the bike. The base gasket and reed cage both had massive leaks. I sealed it all up and it runs way better and doesnt foul plugs anymore. But STILL is getting oil into the radiator.. its strange cuz i pressure tested the motor and cooling system and it was great. No more foamy oil though. It was cuz of the base gasket failure i think. But now the oil is low and the coolant keeps coming out with oil in it. Still stumped. Haha

    YZ80 oil in the coolant!?

Hey guys so i just rebuilt my kids 1985 yz80 new seals bearings etc full rebuild, i took it for a ride and within 10 min the crank case was near empty of oil and it was full of foam and the radiator was full of motor oil.. i paid extra attention to the crank seals and water pump for that reason. Just not sure what could be causing this. Its the reason i tore down the motor in the first place. Any ideas would be great at this point! Thanks

    97 yz 250 killing plugs !?

    This is the dead plug..
  5. So my bike was running amazing all last summer and never fouled a plug or has any problems. took it to the sand and it was running good and all of a sudden it slowly reved down while still on the gas and died and never started till I put a new plug in. I cleaned the carb very well, checked the floats, and cleaned the air filter.. took it out 2 more times and with a new plug each time it loads up and chokes out and smokes alot with spooge everywhere just about at mid rpm and just off idle... and will run for anywhere from 5 min to an hour before the plug is fryed.. the Jets that it had were #45 pilot #165 main.. now I changed them to 48 and 175 and the same thing keeps happening. Put the plug in my cr250 and it won't fire at all and has ZERO spark. Wtf could this be it's driving me crazy. Sorry for long post!!
  6. Just picked up an 03 raptor 80 that had a choke flap screw fall out and smashed up the piston and head pretty good. I'm trying to figure out if this head is repairable with a dremel or etc.. the valve seats are still good and the valves are not bent. Any help would be awesome thanks

i went through the carb 2 times myself and the shop went through it once as well so thats pretty much dialed becides having to need a rather large pilot jet (48) to run at all i think its has something to do with the the piston, plug, coil, stator, or my valves are messed up somehow. there in spec but maybe they could not be seating right or something i dunno...

oh yeah one more thing if you shine a light down the spark plug tube the piston is chared very black ive done alot of 2 stroke rebuilds and none of the ones ive pulled out have had chard pistons my plug looks pretty nasty as well gonna start there i guess than test stator and coil

yeah ill have to try that i havent checked the stator or coil. not sure on the hours had 1 owner before me and i guess it sat in a barn for 3 years. it doesnt have a scratch on it, frame pegs and cases are strangely perfect like it wasnt ridden ever.

not sure if its possible to check the compression with the decompressor but i was only getting 35psi kicking it.that sounds bad to me. though it was supposed to be around 57psi. this thing has been a pain so far, just did valves, rejetted the carb running a 165 main 48 pilot and ncvs needle in the 3rd postion. fuel screw 1 3/4 out. had a 42 pilot and it wouldnt start. its still having bad random starting problems with the electric start. and wont kick start at all. at an idle if u rev it about half way and hold it there it lightly pops out the pipe constantly. and when starting it occasionally backfires bad. whats wrong with this thing?????!! ahhh oh yeah it has boysen quickshot and the last owner had a 50 pilot and stock main. that seems way to big for the pilot?? any help with this thing would be great! thanks
