Quail Lake/Hwy 138 near Hungry Valley?

Yup, then the new residents will whine about all the dust blowing in from Hungry Valley SVRA and changes will be made....and they probably won't be good..

+1 on all the above. I find myself at 58 and making slightly different choices in rides/terrain/speed. If in a faster group, I try to ride sweep or close to it. After all, I know where the group is heading and I will arrive at the destination, slightly delayed and baring any unforeseen mishaps.

    Ballinger Canyon

I hope it is still there and has become a permanent target for hunters and shooters. None of those trails back there are for full size vehicles. "Brave hipsters" is the wrong label for these dumb asses.
  4. Well, with the Alamo Fire burning out of control is this area, it will be 10 more years before we, the public, are able to access these public lands with a vehicle. However, ranchers will still be able to run cattle and vehicles at will.
  5. I find it laughable that ranchers can still run cattle in the area, all making water crossings and trampling the suspected 'endangered species' habitat with impunity. This is accomplished by the ranchers leasing the area for fractions of pennies per acre. Money talks....maybe designating the area as OHV and bringng in those funds will sway the powers to open it back up because it is a more lucrative option.

    Ballinger Canyon

I've made some mistakes and have done some off piste travel in my time, but not in front of the whole camp ground. That only leads more people to think it's OK. There's 30K areas out there, where if you prefer that kind of riding, only a few see it. For those who like to argue signage, the park is a 'Marked Trails Only' location. So if it doesn't have a trail sign and number, it is not considered open. The youngsters in the video looked like they were enjoying themselves, let's hope we all can continue to bring our young riders out there for a long time to come. My kids grew up riding there.

    Ballinger Canyon

You had me up until you crossed the fence on to private property at 13:07. I've never been a big fan of that activity at Ballinger, or other places. https://youtu.be/Rty1_wVxhP4?t=787

Our Cal City Memorial Day weekend...

Not sure about Red Sticker riding, but you'll need to purchase a yearly CC Pass at one of the many stores in CC. Borax Bill's sells them too. From HWY 14, take the CC exit and head all the way through town. Take Twenty Mule Team Rd. to 140th St. Take right onto 140th St and continue for 1 mile. Take left on George Blvd. and continue for 1 mile and camp in one of the two large open areas. Have fun.
