  1. Hey guys, bike runs great commuting and offroad, I can mark corners by burning out going around them, pop the clutch at 5k RPMs, so basically do anything I want. However when I come into the city with it, if I accelerate past a number of cars from a stop quite quickly, and then hold steady at 50 MPH until a stoplight 2 miles ahead, slowing down quickly for the light will stall the bike >.>. Keep in mind I was cruising at 50 MPH for over a mile and not flooring it. I'm at a loss, going to test it again tonight for another class I have. It's getting annoying passing these prius' only to watch them cruise by watching my try to kick my bike in the middle of the road.

    Chain slip-Cracked case :(

Hey guys, I tightened my chain to spec about a week ago, I've had the chain 2 months and since have account for typical slack w/ a 1 turn tighten 3 times. Tonight my chain slipped, apparently to a loose chain (I check my chain slack every time I ride and on the way to the football game it was fine...). Anyways it happened, and now I have a cracked case. 1 bolt and bolt hole were severed closest to the front sprocket and I can see a sliver of gap between the...gasket housing?...from the back of the case and the front. It was leaking oil while still hot, but since has ceased. From here what is my best option? I'm a drywaller by profession so my instinct now is to just float it out w/ JB weld and pretend nothing happened. just to be clear 1 bolt hole is cut in about half and is unusable, the rest of the case is intact and sealed. The inch or so section of the case that got grinded wouldn't have the gasket, but would be welded. Would this quick fix ultimately make problems worse? Btw it's a 1992 DR 650. Thanks for your help in advance
  4. Okay...I haven't had time to pull my carb apart yet, but now my bike runs perfectly...did it just happen to be a bad bad bad flooding? Me having left my petcock on overnight being the big mistake? Since then it's been off, and I've ridden in twice without incident. Is the diagnosis still the same and should I still get in the carb?
  5. One more thing, I've looked and looked for a 92 carb kit, but can't seem to find one. I see a lot of 96' and newer kits but anything before that seems nonexistent. Does anybody know where to find one? I have a 92' DR 650, I believe the sub model is S but I'm not entirely sure and I'm just judging off of google images at this point .
  6. Alright oz, thanks a bunch for the help, it's very much appreciated.
  7. Could running some fuel additive clean the carb without having to take it apart?
  8. Hey guys, from what I know it sounds like my carb is flooding itself at low rpms, but I don't know much . Occasionally over the past month or so my bike would stall at a stop light, maybe once a week (I ride it to class every day hitting 6 lights one way). Last night I left my petcock on and fuel was dripping down (common after about 30 minutes with it on). At which point it was impossible to start. I drove the car, came back and it started on my first kick. It's a 1992 DR 650 btw. When I went to my later class, it took about 4 kicks to get it going, and at my second stop light it died as I clutched from second to first. Started up before the light turned and I was golden. Had a 3 hour class, came back and it fired up perfectly, however on the light exiting the campus (my first stop) it stalled again after a downshift. I'm going to be sore from how many times I tried to start it on the side of the light. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, at which point it started it's first kick, and stupid me forgot to throw my gear on before trying to get it started, and in that time it died again. No biggy waited another 5 and was good to go. Stalled one time on the way home (kept rpms up) and the first time I failed to downshift while holding a steady RPM it died, but started up within a couple kicks. Is this a classic flooding situation? What would you guys say is my best plan of attack from here? Thanks in advance for the help.
  9. I'm looking to get a new chain/sprocket set from procycle, and stated on pretty much all of their items is '96-'12. Would the front/rear sprocket be compatible with an older model or did something change in 96 onward.

my bike seems a little boggy the last few days

Does it have a vented gas cap? Sometimes the caps get clogged, I took it apart and cleaned it, it worked fine for a bit but clogged again. Try taking it for a spin down the road w/ the cap off to allow more airflow. I had no issues w/ the cap off, so I cut a section of the rubber seal underneath out to allow a hole (much like a gas can's rear cap) This was the fix to my same problem.

New Turn signal kit for dr 650

Hey, simple question. Slid my bike a couple weeks back and knocked my left turn signals out, figured its time for a new set anyways. Anything important to note when buying a kit? Or just google "DOT approved dual sport turn signal kit" and get the cheapest one? All my wiring is good as well, just need the bulbs/casing. Thanks in advance for the help.

    DR 650 petcock jammed

Appreciate the help, the raptor product is ordered on on its way!

    DR 650 petcock jammed

And that will be compatible w/ a 1992 DR 650s? Idk if it was dealer lingo I was getting fed but the parts manager at the dealership said "For every 100 bikes made there are 200 different petcocks", in response to me asking if there was a universal petcock for cheaper.

    DR 650 petcock jammed

I went trail riding the other day and conveniently at our fuel halfway mark where we typically break then turn back, my petcock jammed on the off position. Long story short we quick fixed it and managed to get home, stalling a couple times due to lack of fuel. It seems the part is hard to find anywhere but the suzuki dealer, so I went in and the part is 110$. Is this the normal price of a petcock? Should I just pick it up for that price or is there a smarter way to go about it, possibly at an online store?
  15. Hey guys, I started having this problem a while back where my dr 650 would get starved for fuel at about 55 mph, typically going uphill. Recently, 55 turned into 45, and now 35 mph. After some basic troubleshooting, I decided to take it for a run w/ its gas cap off. I managed 75 MPH up a gradual incline. Does this mean I should just replace my gas cap or could it be another underlying problem.
