To pipe or not to pipe

off the shelf aftermarket pipes do very little for adding more power. the biggest advantage of aftermaker pipes is their crack and dent resistance. stock pipes are generally made from very thin material that crack easily, usually at the weld seams. get the carb sorted out first thing. after that if you still need a bunch more power or even alittle bit more power, i would get some engine work done.

i think those are just owners manuals. this is the book your asking about http://www.repairmanual.com/product/official-1999-2003-ktm-250-380-sx-mxc-exc-engine-repair-manual-3206004-e/

hey gomer pile let me learn you somethin. i mentioned castor because you and all the other bafoons on this thread insist its for grampas outboard. you think motul, motorex, maxima, klotz ( just to name a few) ,are in the business of selling cutting edge castor hybrids to grampa ?

mine was at the height that keihin recomends. i have no idea why yours were different but its rediculous to think ktm intentionally did it. even more rediculous to think ktm did it intentionally to some how break in the engine.

ktm intentionally setting floats wrong so fuel pours out ? uh i highly doubt it. i seen no evidence of that when i took mine apart. besides that would be counter productive to ktms image. even with the keihin recomended hieght youll get alittle leakage. hard to say how much as ive never tried to figure it out but its definatly there by the evidence of fuel at the end of the hoses. most likely it aint very much though

highmarker you may be the only one around here with a bit of sense. castor is still alive and well even in the most modern oils. motul ,moterex and many others still make castor hybrid oils. most people arent aware of it because theyre IQ is near the level of a turnip. 60:1 is the norm for a average dirtbike simply because their performance and engine speed is only moderate

    Assembly problem with CR500 top-end.

my solution would be a ktm300. nearly as much hp, slightly less torque, 15 lbs lighter, revs further, doesnt vibrate your teeth out. you can thank me later

if you ride like a old lady even a teaspoon of oil would do the job. for the rest of us we need more than just a tiny bit

eric gorr has been doing the same song and dance for as long as i can remember. cut the base and remove the kicker in the rear transfer with epoxy so it aims straight across to the opposing port. it probly wont rev worth dog poo but rpm may not be what your after anyways. if your happy thats all that matters

you guys sound pretty lost. . your tuner might be lost as well. sure seems that way any how. wont tell you how to approach the situtation as thats for you and your 'tuner' to sort out but i can tell you what the result of .025 shaved off the base has done. decreases your timing by 2* total and creates a hole under the piston. might wanna get some assistance from a different tuner or atleast a second opinion preferably from someone that has a clue
