  1. Correct it does not run. Not sure on the pressure like I said the KTM tech just did his thing and I watched. lol
  2. Compression texting was done by a KTM tech, the reading was 15 psi and we tried two different testers to make sure.
  3. Heres a strange problem for the community, I have a bike thats failing a compression test but passes a leak down with flying colors... 2012 KTM 250 SX-F Valves spot on, clearances spot on New cam chain Dirt Tricks cam chain tensioner HAS fuel HAS spark 4% leakdown on the leakdown test FAILS compression test horribly Thoughts?? I am flat out stumped...

    2014 YZ 250F Electrical problems.

84 Views no posts is everyone stumped come on guys!
  5. SO, My 2014 yz250f shut off on me in the air awhile back, I thought it was over heated so I let it cool. Started fine and it ran for the cruise back to my camper but shut off again. The next morning I started it to make sure it was not blown up and it idled on the stand fine so I threw it in the trailer and went home. Fast forward a week I am pulling out to the races I go to start up my bike and it runs for like 30 seconds consistently then shuts off like it looses electrical power. So I fiddled with a couple of connections and the stupid thing ran so I took it to the track, got two laps in and it shut off on me again! Same way. Loss of electrical power. Got home, went through and cleaned and greased every connection in the bike, NOTHING. We then pulled the ECU and tested resistances with a meter from the pin out to each of the components. Everything was good except for my kill switch which had a frayed wire. Replaced the kill switch, NOTHING. So then we replaced the ECU figuring that the frayed wire was grounding and sending a short to the ECU and hurt it. Replaced the ECU, NOTHING. Fast forward another week, talked to a yamaha professor at MMI, he said check the charging system. Replaced Ignition coil and spark plug boot, and it ran! Fast forward another week, got to the practice day at the track. And it died on me again! Got home put the GYTR tuner on the bike, a whopping 14 min on run time on the new ECU and nothing it died the same way as the first time shut off, spotty running, then did the 30 second run thing. Now nothing. So I went back to the charging system and replaced the other half which is the smoothing compensator. NOTHING. I am at a loss what to do. No codes logged in the ECU. What the hell yamaha!
  6. Looking for thought's BIKE: 2014 Yz250f So story goes I was at the Millville Pro National riding am day. Bike quit. Started to run spotty and shut off and when it shut off it was like someone turned a key off. No stumble, just flat dead. Got the bike to run eventually by fudging with some connections did two laps of practice and it quit again, once again like someone turned the key off. So, we looked at spark first. Determined we had none. So we went through every connection on the bike and cleaned them found that the airbox sensor was hanging, fixed all that. NOTHING not a sputter. Here is a CATCH, one of my wires on my kill switch was cut and frayed. So wondering if it was shorting the ECU. We went through the whole power system going from the ECU pin to each componet, WE DID NOT PROBE THE ECU. We found that the broken wire was indeed the culprit. We spliced it so that the signal was good, NOTHING. SO we determined that the ECU was bad, I grabbed my buddies 2015 yz250f ECU out of his bike and put in mine. It started in 4 kicks. Put it back in my buddies 15, bike ran so the 2014 did not damage his. SOOOOOO I ordered a hyspeed brand killswitch off of ebay and a 2014 ECU that "came off a low hour bike". Put them both on today. NOTHING not even a spudder. SO did I get a shit ECU or do I have a bigger problem. Thoughts? Additional question. Can a GYTR tuner recognize a faulty ECU.
  7. Alright guys so here is a puzzle for you, I have a 2013 250 sxf that recently had the motor pulled for a rebuild. That's all finished and I've got everything hooked back up. I go to start it with the electric start and it turns over once than just clicks. So I was thinking I blew a fuse on the solenoid, but upon checking, I hadn't. I replaced them anyways same thing. Click. I meter tested the battery to solenoid. That's good its getting power, then I tested the other end of the solenoid. Good puts power through. And I am getting power also all the way down to the starter terminal. But, like before she just clicks.... I am stumped, is the started stuck from sitting or what? It would be nice to hear every ones thoughts thanks!!
  8. So here is the story, it was raining I went out for my second Moto on my 2013 Ktm 250sxf the bike ran fantastic. I parked it immediately after the Moto. Went to go to the gate for moto 3 and it wouldn't start. Now I've gone through the whole fuel system pump to injector and none of it was plugged the injector is clouding perfectly. The bike has spark, and it also has compression, I just can't understand why it won't start. It does have a GET ignition and I've heard they have had boxes that simply crap out, I'll be checking the timing and valves tonight. Thoughts people?!
  9. Here is my problem guys, my 2013 ktm 250sxf starts and idles fine runs like a top on the "High" idle like choke setting. But as soon as I push my plunger in she dies, I can also start it with some throttle with it on the "Normal" idle setting no problem, but as soon as I let go of the throttle it dies once again. Thoughts??
  10. Thanks guys thats what I was thinking I had to do. Im amazed myself that it happened thanks a lot once again!
  11. Alrighty thumper talk folks I have a 2008 Ktm 250sxf. I was going to replace the inner clutch cover gasket when I (not thinking) pulled the inner cover off the engine without taking the impeller circlip off thus pulling out the shaft pictured. Anyways now that I am at this stage I went to put the cover back on lining the half moon key up it was all going smooth but the shaft that runs the impeller and goes through the cam chain area does not go in far enough no matter what. What the heck! So what do I need to do to get my machine back??? Thanks folks!

  14. Just wondering if their was anyone out their that has ever put a two stroke something engine in a 2007 yamaha yz 250f?? or can it even be done?
  15. The only problem I have with that is the cr engine is weak... ya know? But I want the frame haha
