    Let's ride - October 2nd, 8th and 9th

We made it to Taneum. Unfortunately, the larger group never quite organized, but I know other TT'ers were there. MorrisWR led a ride of four on his new 250x. Conditions were excellent. Not too dusty. Anticipating the first creek crossing had me a bit unnerved. Sometime between the first and the fourth, I was cured. I believe we spent most of the time on 1363. We then did a bit of 1377 later in the afternnon (easier, but not "easy"). Morris captured the route on his GPS. Unfortunately, no pix. Just good single-track riding. Way to go, Morris.

We're in. We should make it up there around 9:45a. We'll be using the driving directions on this page: Taneum And we'll be driving a maroon station wagon pulling a couple of red bikes.

I can attest to that. I surely wouldn't have made it around Manastash in the mud a few weeks ago without a little help, for which I am eternally grateful. Even though I was slow man out, I learned a ton and even started feeling it by the end (it was my first real trail ride). I can't wait to ride again with these guys/gals. Except for a few embassing (read: stupid) moments, I never got too down on myself. No one ever made me feel unwelcome. In fact, quite the contrary. Hopefully, Jason and I will catch up with you folks on one of these early October rides.

Anyone take a GPS on rides?

Garmin eTrex Vista C (color). Read good things about it. A little pricey, though.

Okay. Keep me posted. Looks line Taneum might be easier on my wagon than the Manastash trailhead. Of course, I don't mind riding back to Manastash from there. It'll give me a chance to face my demons . Not sure if my GPS will be here by next weekend, but no big deal.

Morris - you are a man of many talents. While I know nothing about mines (and don't need you to teach me), I'd like to become more adept at working/plotting trail with a GPS. Which brings me to the more important task at hand: Let us know when you can break free again of wife and kids and wanna take that new 250x out of the garage. Of course, it'll have to be at a somewhat slow(er) pace than normal, so that Jason, Jacob and me can keep up (ok, so that Dad can keep up ). Of course, not on this (holy) Saturday (for us). Perhaps next.

PNW ride @ MANASTASH sept. 10-12

Not at all. I was feeling those single track bank turns. Too bad it was the end of the day for us. We had to get back to town. I would like to revisit those muddy uphill, switch-backs sometime soon. And I would welcome the opportunity to ride again with everyone. That's a heck of a picture of Jason. It will definitely go in the album. Thanks for sharing.

Boy, what I didn't know I'd learn about riding trail. As our first real ride, Jason and I sure had fun. Thanks to everyone who helped get me through it, and over it and down it (and who rode Jason hard when Dad did it and he didn't). Your patience is beyond appreciation. I only hope you'll have us again. That last piece of trail on Saturday back to camp was, for me, amazing. I was feeling the pain of the day and just went for it. Someone riding sweep was on my tail not giving me an inch and encouraging me to go for it (after helping me time and again throughout the day - who was that masked man? - thank you). Well, I only hope I'm on the right side of the learning curve. I can't wait to do it again (that is, after I heal from my wounds and bruses of the day - and my ego recovers). Thanks to Nicki for making it happen. Hope to see you all some time soon.

My oldest son and I are also planning to arrive Saturday morning. We're in the maroon station wagon pulling a trailer with our two red bikes. Hopefully the way in does not have too many obstacles for our trailer. Look forward to finally meeting some of you folks tomorrow.

We're putting this ride on our calendar too. Our kids (10 and 14) can meet and possibly ride together. Speaking of which, if your are riding somewhere with kids this weekend, let us know (via PM, so your thread doesn't get hijacked). Not sure we'll do all three days, as Dad is challenged when it comes to campin-out . Of course, if I can find a motel close by . . .

    02 XR250 mods?

Remove the snorkel (and then you'll definitely need to change the jetting). I'm running a 135 main (stock is 132).

We'll be up at Big White that weekend. We'll probably make it down for family day on Saturday. Any chance you can fax me the flyer. Not real readable on the PN website (fax # 206-xxx-xxxx).
  14. Once again trying to hook up with folks that can show us (me and my two boys) around. Assuming no racing or most difficult stuff, we can probably keep up. Would like to try Naches or Lake Wenatchee or ??. HR - I know we missed your Capital Forest ride today. Hope it was a blast.

Any Dads/Moms riding with kids this weekend?

HR - would like to hook up with you sometime (I remember you offered to help with the power-up install on our CRF). Let me know when you're riding with your youngest, which might be a better fit, as we're pretty new at this sport. Thanks for the offer. I'll definitely keep in touch.
