    87 YZ80 barn find

Thanks guys, I did check it over for an external rattle but didn't find any. I may rip into the top end and check it out.

    87 YZ80 barn find

I found this bike rotting away and rescued it from its original owner. All I replaced was the tires, chain, seat cover, oil and brake fluid. The carb was gunked up but cleaned up easy. Bike fired up 2nd kick! My question to y'all is that when it idles it sounds very smooth however when reving it up there is an internal slight rattle that seems to be coming from the top end. Best I could describe it would be as a loose washer vibrating on your frame. The second issue I am having is with the carb. It does not leak gas when just sitting but oddly when I first fire it up it will dump some gas out the tubes off the carb but not once it's running. Feel it's a float/float needle issue but not sure. Any info or experience would be really appreciated.

    Is Bartlett area re-opening?

Does anyone have any more info on this?
  7. hondamxracer makes a kit for this. I got it from him and it was very nice. I'm sure he can also point you in the right direction for building your own if he can't ship to you.
  8. Figured it was worth a shot to clean up the spooge a little more. Also, this bike mostly gets rode on single track so never really wide open. I'm open to opinions or suggestions.
  9. My air screw is out 2. Mine is also an 06, not sure how much of a difference that will make between your 04. The only change I am going to do now is go back and test the BR8EG hotter plug.
  10. Well the lake is 1600 but where we ride is more like 2000-2300, not that it really matters. I started with a 178 main and a 48 pilot which were both extremely rich. I would be curious to know how far out your air screw is? With that 48 I would suspect 2.5+? Just a side note, I'm also running the #7 slide and a BR9EG-N-8 plug. This is hands down the best my bike has ran with this set up. Great plug reading and very crisp down low. Honestly though, listen to your bike and do what it wants best, nothing wrong with where you are starting, it's certainly on the safe side.
  11. So I started much fatter then this current set up but was getting my silencer packed up really bad. This bike is currently set up for single track which I ride a lot of out by Bartlett lake outside Scottsdale. It currently has the factory pipe on it but usually has a PC platinum2. I'm running 32-1 honda hp synthetic oil and 50/50 vp110 and 91 pump. Eric Gorr did my cylinder decking. .030 I also have the TPS hooked up.
  12. I am running a similar set up with a vforce reed, the 304 silencer and TPS hooked up. I just leaned out my jetting to a 42 pilot and 172 main. Air screw @ 2 out. 32-1 mix and CEJ on the third clip. This has been very gradual getting to this point.
  13. Sorry, I have been out of the loop for a while. I might be able to help ya out with it. I have been thru a lot of this. I am concerned with the 40 off the top tho. 30 is what most people do, including myself. Let me know if I can help, I'm in mesa gilbert too. BTW, riding single track tomorrow if you guys wanna join.

    RC High Bend Bars

Thanks for the input guys! I went ahead and ordered the RC Highs with the Renthal 5mm forward bar adapters. Sorry I left out the part where these are going on an 06 CR250 with the PWK carb swap. I did already swap out the pegs with some oversized ones from Sunline. I don't believe they are any lower.

    RC High Bend Bars

I'm 6'3 and feel hunched over when standing up. I am planning on upgrading to a set of Renthal Twinwall RC High Bend bars with the Renthal oversized clamps. Looking for opinions on these and more importantly wondering if I will have throttle cable issues. I did the PWK conversion and used my stock cable if that even matters. Thanks
