    DRZ400S road top speed/cruise speed

I read an article that said top speed was 92mph. I had a stock DRZ going 80 mph the other day but it felt a little twitchy. It was still accelerating when I let off.

    POWER

The Cycle World specs were for an S model

    POWER

Cycle World June 2000 specs on the DRZ 400. 1/4 mile 14.52 sec @ 84.72 mph. Top speed 92 mph. Rear Wheel power (corrected) 32.7 hp @ 7900 rpm, 24.6 ft/lb @ 6150. I don't think the performance specs have changed since then, just the suspenders and CCT.

    DRZ street bike/pipe

What exhaust is that? Most importantly is it abnoxiously loud? Will it wake up my neighbours baby when I start it in the morning?

    Thumper EFI systems?

Thanks Rookie, just the tip I needed. Apparently the Cannondale system was made by a company called OPTIMUM Power Technology. They have a website here: http://www.optimum-power.com/main-mgmt.htm I need to wade through the info but it smells expensive. I wrote to Bosch to see if they have anything aftermarket but haven't gotten a reply yet. Given the hype and general elation that newer EFI sportbikes get in reviews I think it's only time until an aftermarket system is available for the DRZ complete with maps.

    Thumper EFI systems?

Does anyone know of an EFI system that could be put on a DRZ400? I know BMW has one on their 650 enduro. Is there any aftermarket systems for single cylinder engines out there? Do you know of any other small thumpers with an EFI system on them? Thanks, I apprecitate your input.

    DRZ400E gas mileage

I just did the big search on this forum for the same thing. Follow this thread: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=969895&page=&view=&sb=5&o= This is only one of many threads.

    Really comfortable seat ??

Does anyone know of a really comfortable aftermarket or custom seat for the DRZ/KLR400? I have read the threads in TT regarding the gel seat, and the Sargent seat but they don't seem to be what I'm looking for. I'd like one that is a bit wider, good for long distance hauls. I'm considering sending the seat to Saddleman as one other posting suggested. Any others have suggestions. I want to use it for commuting about 2 hours per day. I'm 6' 220lbs - I know I should just loose weight but pop tarts are so good!

San Diego Police Bust Offroaders Yesterday.

I'd like to invite you to Canada. We have thousands of miles of fire roads and uninhabited places to ride any way you want. It's still easy (if a little expensive) to licence an off road bike here. As long as it has a plate and it's not too loud the cops don't care. We hardly have any cops anyway. I don't recommend riding in the public parks but 9 times out of 10 you could probably get away with it. The only drawback for some of you from California though is that you must wear a helmet here. Think about it or at least come for a visit and see for yourself.

What a dumb bum thing I said

1/4 mile time for drz 400s?

The Ninja 500 puts out about 60 hp at the crank - the DRZ about 40 hp. Dry weight the Ninja is about 80 lbs more. Different machines for different purposes. I owned a Ninja 500 but now wish I had a DRZ400. I think the DRZ looks like 10X the fun that the little Kawi has been.

1/4 mile time for drz 400s?

1/4 mile time on an EX500 is in the 12.6 to 12.8 range. I recently rode a bike that was in the 13 sec range. Huge huge huge difference. Did I say huge difference. Given an equally skilled rider the EX500 will beat the DRZ400 by miles.
