    I took apart every bearing in the swing arm and shock assembly. It was a dry lower shock bearing. I ams oiled greased every bearing in the bike. Noise gone! Thanks for the help!

    2013 kx 450f suspension noise

    Bouncing up and down will make a sound like a squeaky mattress. It's centers from around the main swing arm bolt. Should I pull out the main bolt and use ams oil bearing grease to lube up the swing arm bearings? Any idea what size socket I'll need to remove swing arm nut.

    YZ450 --> WR450 frame swap!

    No issues with the YZ. My friends buddy has this WR frame with title and I wouldn't mind swapping over everything and driving it on the road once in a while. My Yz has the four speed trans and I was concerned with critical engine mounts being in the wrong spots.
  6. Could I swap my 03' yamaha yz450f frame with a 05' yamaha wr450 frame?

    valve clearance example!

    Intake clearance spec 0.10-0.15mm Intake valve 1 clearance 0.051mm spacer under cap= 1.85mm correct spacer under cap = 1.76mm to make clearance gap aprox 0.14 Is my math correct? Im trying to correct the valves on a 2003 yamaha yz 450f. It recently installed an athena 480 big bore. what clearance should i shoot for? intake spec is 0.10-0.15 and exhaust 0.20-0.25
  8. Im putting an athena 480 big bore kit on my bike. My bike wouldnt start after putting on the big bore kit. I seen some coolant coming down the head gasket while trying to push start the bike. Im a master auto tech and i torqued the head down corrected. further inspection revealed a small crack in the head by the right front head bolt. I already ordered a new head. Do you guys have any tips on torquing 450 heads down? I just bought this bike 6 months ago. It may have always been cracked. this is the sequence i used: in a cross pattern 30 nm, compleatly loosen bolts then 20 nm , final step 180 turn. i sent my engine out to get checked out by a friend and we lost top dead center on compression stroke. any tips on finding TDC on compression?
  9. First of all, the bikes not finished! i took the engine apart the weekend before our yearly Silverlake Dune trip. The mission was to install my Athena 480 BB kit. I found out that this bike had a hotrodz crank and connecting rod put in by the previous owner. the 480 piston wont sit right on the aftermarket connecting rod. The piston teeters on the connecting rod and i cant get the piston wrist pin to line up. Do to my up coming trip i put everything back together. While on my trip i would get a slight knocking noise occasionally under load. Ive torn my bike down again to send the engine to my friends machine shop to mill the under side of the piston to fit on the connection rod. During the tear down i noticed some oil blow-by the timing chain tensioner access bolt. the one with the brass O-ring. Could this bolt being lose cause some sloop in the timing and made a noise complaint. there was not damage to the valve or pistion. Update soon.....
