RM 250 no top end power!

Rhino yea the 2nd video is my friend, he has been riding mx for years so he wasn't afraid to rev up the bike. I on the other hand am a new rider so i am still learning how to rev it out. But yes the second video is a more accurate example of what the bike is doing. And yes on the first video at 2:50 and a lil before i was 3rd gear pinned and it had no power going up the hill.

RM 250 no top end power!

2000 RM 250. Here is a vid of me riding it. It has great low end pickup but once i get in the higher rpms there is no power and i usually bog going up hill. I have new plug, 91 0ctane with 50:1 mix, cleaned carburetor, cleaned power valve, 155 main, 42 pilot, idk needle position, power valve setting is 180 degrees or half turn clockwise past 0 tension. Idk if that is the stock setting for my bike, i have heard 180 degrees or 1 full turn. All new seals and gaskets for bottom and top end. The second video is me testing to see if the power valve is actually functioning because all my MX friends said it was the power valve when they test rode it. Let me know what you guys think, thanks for the help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_a1cb6qvA8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U6V2ox-ZCw

Can't find proper front axle spacers!

yea i didn't know that either but i compared the two and the spacers are totally different. The talon setup has much larger inner diameter axle seals thus requiring different spacers. How much would sell me those 2 parts i need including shipping?
  4. Hey so im having trouble finding the proper setup. The previous owner had a excel wheel and talon hub setup but he broke the front spokes so he switched out to a stock hub and rim. Problem is he used the talon spacers on the stock setup with ruined the axle seals and the rim wasn't even centered properly so the rotor was rubbing up against the caliper this whole time. Does anyone have pictures of their stock setup? This is for an 00 rm 250. I believe these are the 2 parts i need. SPACER,FRONT AX 54741-36E10 and SPACER,FRONT AX 54751-36E10. My friend ordered this part for me: 54731 - 36E00 but i think its the wrong part and when i tried installing the wheel back on it was too long and it would not rest inside the axle seal.

    Power valve adjustment question?

anyone know the stock setting for a 00 Rm 250? new rider so i didn't know the power valve had so much affect on how the bike responds. My bike has lots of lower rpm power but once i try and get up to high range there is practically no power. I have it set at 180 degrees past 0 tension, is stock suppose to be 180 or 1 full turn? my bike has a pro circuit pipe and r304 silencer, elevation 1400ft.

    1999 rm250 crank seals

i have a 2000 and i think they are the same but don't quote me on it but for the left crank seal where the stator and flywheel are you want the solid side to face out. But on the clutch side you want the seal with the spring part face out. What i did when i put mine in was very lightly lubricate the outer part of the seals and used a large socket, preferably the same size of the outer race of the seal, and slowly tapped it in using the back side of the socket (where the ratchet connects because it has more surface area). I don't know if that's the right way because im new to bikes too but it worked for me. Try using this manual, its for an 03 but im pretty sure its the same. Check chapter 8 page 9 and the last figure shows an illustration of how the seals go. Hope this helps. https://www.box.com/shared/ghfpsghfdj hers a vid on crank bearing ans seal installation.

    00 rm 250 problem, power-valve?

I had the air fuel screw at 1 1/2 turns out from all the way in. I just rebuilt the bottom end with new seals so this was the second ride on the rebuild as well. So if it was a right crank seal my tranny oil level would be low correct? Would the oil level drop be significant? Could it be because of a stuck power valve make the bike run richer? When i did the rebuild i never cleaned the power valve because the people i took it to said i didn't need to because it looked cleaned and operated smoothly. Is there a way i can test to see if the power valve is working? Can i start the bike and rev it in neutral and take the side cover off to see the arm actuate or does the bike need to be under load? I checked to see if the power valve adjuster knob waws set correctly so i removed it and put it back to stock (1 full turn from 0 tension) and i noticed that area where the spring sits in was all covered in oil. Is that a problem? Still new to bikes so sorry for all the noob questions.

    00 rm 250 problem, power-valve?

any ideas? I also noticed there was a lot of oil coming out the silencer that day, does that mean i was running too rich? Will a too rich fuel mixture create the same problems?

    00 rm 250 problem, power-valve?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ls4KuP6HKk0&feature=youtu.be 2nd time on a bike so go easy on me. As you can see in the first few mins (from 1:40 - 2:20) of the video i am pinning it in 5th gear but i can't keep up with anyone and i try and blurp the throttle to see if the power valve will open but i don't think it ever did. Is there a way i can clean and remove the power-valve assembly without pulling the top end off? On a tight budget and can't afford new gaskets. Compression is good, plug is good. Sorry the camera angle is a lil low.

rm 250 rear shock rebuild, lost valve shim!

This bike is my first it is a 2000 suzuki rm 250. i think the shock is stock but it has a rear coil made by eibach. I did not modify the suspension in any way, this is how i bought the bike.

rm 250 rear shock rebuild, lost valve shim!

Vietze, what do you mean by setting? Do i need to measure each shim with a set of calipers? Sorry i am new to bikes.
  14. Hey everyone, i was in the process of rebuilding my rear shock and i was placing the shims back onto the shock shaft and i lost one. How big of a difference will this make in the rebound/compression? It was a smaller shim and was dark blue in color. I tried looking for it everywhere in the garage and outside and nothing. can i get a replacement? How would i know what size and thickness?
