    mechanic referral

From SFV It might take you an hour to get to AS Racings shop. If something went wong with one of my bikes that i couldn't fix myself, Paul at AS Racing would be my first call. He's done stainless valve conversions on 2 of my CRFs and they're top notch. Do yourself a favor and buy some piece of mind. http://agentsmithracing.com/

what is it like on a 450X

Riding the 450X is like riding on the back of GOD The almighty himself. It's smooth, powerful, predictable, and it loves you unconditionally.

    Time for a new piston?

Yo Johnny... Gimme your 5-hundo! I'll probably tear it down this summer. It's funny. I was out on a day ride with my son yesterday in OW and the grader had just smoothed out Pole Line Rd. So we hopped on it for a few hundred yards and I was thinking to myself as my kid was trying to pass me -"I should put a big bore kit in this thing" then I grabbed 4th gear, lofted the tire and passed my kid on his CRF250R like he was standing still. -Naw, no need for a big bore

    Love my 450X, but if

I dunno about your trailer/storage set-up. but the Yamaha Rhinos sure are fun... I'd take another one of them over a pilot any day. I miss my Rhino.

    Love my 450X, but if

I had a plated 650R that I did the whole supermoto thing too (check the garage)... never again. Why? 3 tickets in 2 months is enough reason for me LOL!!!! My Harley is also in my garage and for "lightweightedness" (<--- I don't think that's a word, CFR450X07) I've got my kids CRF250R.

Pulled my engine, any maintenance ideas?

The only reason I know this is because I just had to pull the motor, split the case and replace the crank on my brother-in-laws 450X... "someone" I'm not saying who (me) forgot to tighten the oil drain bolt all the way down. New Cyl Piston etc crank bearings all the seals = around $700. Gatta love Service Honda

x3 for the right side. Take the valve cover off for a little more room, and have a friend with big arms on the other side to help. Get the head and kicker area in first, then rotate. While you have the motor out, you may as well clean the heck out of the frame rails, and grease the rear linkage, and swing arm bearings. Make sure you get all the electrical and vent hoses back in where they came from, hope you took pics. -This part actually took me longer then putting the motor back in.

    Stumped: Bike won't run

Dude, Thanks, You just saved my sanity! Losened and re-set the tensioner and the bike now starts up with the kicker. Question though, what's it mean if you have to slightly blip the throttle to get it to fire up? (42 pilot)

Huh? What did he JB weld?

    Stumped: Bike won't run

I see how the tensioner could get cock-eyed and jam in there, I took the whole thing off and had the wife hold a long screwdriver in it holding it open while I screwed it back down... gonna put the valve cover and tank back on now and cross muh fingers!

    Stumped: Bike won't run

I'll try that, I'm messin with it right now. My problem is that I don't have one of them little "do-it-yourself" doo-hickys to jam in there, can I just leave the tensioner in and back out the spring (center bolt) and let it re-seat itself? Edit: The darn pics in your link aren't loading for me... grrr!

Air/Fuel screw: That's what I thought, it should be fine. Intake: I'll reshim to .004 and see if that helps, though I doubt it. Cam Chain Tensioner: I didn't loosen it and reset it. I just take the whole damn thing out. I'll reset it when I do the valves, although you'd think it would set itself when the motor is turned over?

    Stumped: Bike won't run

I'm having some problems with my sons 04CRF250R. Basicly, I can't get the damn thing to run. -I've got FactionMX SS valves in it and they say to run them tight, about .003, I'm spot on. -160 Main, 42 pilot, 4th clip, 2 turns on the AS. It ran well like this before. -I checked the timing, spot on (I'm not 180 out either) -New plug has a nice blue spark -It will run if I bump start it, but it's hard to bump (gatta be on asphault, concreate driveway just lets the rear tire skid) and when it IS running, it bogs the whole time, if I pull in the clutch when I'm moving it will stall but I can re-bump it. I'm at my wits end. I can't even think of anything else to check on this bike... Anyone have any ideas? I just had a thought, I recently changed out the Air Screw for one that is more easily adjustable... Could that be the problem? There's a small washer and spring that goes on the end of it, washer on top of the spring, and a rubber O ring inside the orfice. Am I missing parts in there or something?
