    Greasing wheel bearings

Oh wow wish I would have known that...I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Good to know for other specialized tools though.

I would recommend you get a blind side bearing puller. I bought a cheap one off Amazon for 30 bucks or so that came with 4 different sized collets. It makes pulling out the bearings much easier...

    Bar bends

That's not the first time I've heard of running ATV bars...in fact my dad who is over 6 foot ran them on his YZ450 for years before he sold it. He got some funny looks, but swore by them for his height.

    Bar bends

Hello all, What is your height and what bar bends are you running? I still have the Renthals that my YZ250 came with stock (have no idea what bend they are) and I'm wondering if I will benefit from a higher bend. I'm 5'11". Riding around the track I feel like I have to really crouch down or else my elbows tend to drop and I dont feel like I'm in that "attack" position. Looking at the Pro Taper CR high bend, but wanted to see if this sounds about right for my height. Thanks.

Yes, that was mentioned and that is all I will be buying for him and myself from now on. Fly also uses MIPS.

Didn't know there ECE is a thing...never heard of it. Thought it was only DOT and SNELL. I will go look into it. As for why I'm asking this question on a forum, had I not posted this question then I likely would have never heard of ECE, and if it is better as you say, then Im glad I now know about it so I can research it (I also learned a few other things from posters in this discussion that I didn't know before).

Nice, what ignition cover do you have?

    New helmet after crash

While that maybe true, I didn't see the actual crash itself...I looked up after he had already hit the ground so I cannot say beyond the shadow of a doubt that he did not hit his head. Rather be safe than sorry. UPDATE: Spoke with Fly Racing customer service and they said they will ship out any helmet of our choosing 50% off (they are also covering shipping). Needless to say, I'm very pleased with their CS.

That's what he currently has...I'll take some pics of it and send to them. Thanks for the tip.

I hope you talked to a neurologist, two concussions that close together, I'd stick to trail riding for a good six months before going back to the track. I've had a dozen or so and it ain't no joke, i'm going a bit senile in my 40s. Be safe and good luck. Funny you mention that...I have actually debated taking him off the bike until early summer to give his brain plenty of time to heal. I hate that this has happened to him twice now and at a young age. It's his favorite thing to do and looks forward to it all week so its gonna be tough. Unfortunately, there are no good trail riding areas where we live...only an abundance of tracks. The only thing that I miss about living in southern California...

    New helmet after crash

His first crash I don't think was necessarily his fault. He was pulling off the track riding over somewhat unlevel ground, he came upon a massive rut about 4 feet deep that was a result of some heavy rain that occurred days prior. It was too late by the time he saw it. Went right over the handlebars and landed face first in the ground. Today though was a different story. Went off a small tabletop and I think he either he got cross rutted going off the face, or landed with his front wheel turned. Anyways, got thrown off on the landing and hit the side of his head hard. I need to get him into the habit of squeezing the bike with his legs...if he did leave the face crooked, I think by squeezing with his legs it wouldn't have been so bad.

I dont think it was too loose...I remember the day we got it we tried the next size down and he could barely get it on. I always make him try multiple sizes from multiple brands to find the best fitting one. I'll look into the Fox ones more this time around.

    New helmet after crash

Thanks guys..the reason I ask is because my son crashed his 110 hard back in August...got a bruised up face and concussion that landed him in the hospital. I bought him a new helmet immediately after as his was visibly damaged. Today, he went down hard again that resulted in another concussion. I have not inspected his helmet to see if there is any visible damage, but think I am going to go ahead and replace it again anyways like I did last time. Love this sport but damn it's expensive.
