No worries. Did you see that cute little 3hunny sitting back there? Put a deposit on it today. Will work on financing next week. Everything but my Acerbis fuel tank will swap over

I won't be riding anytime soon. Not sure where I need to go from here. I don't really have 6K to put into a new motor. Don't really want to go deeper into debt with a new bike either.

Fuddy, we need to go ride some trail and trade bikes. I'm curious to see the difference in the linkage, and you can see if you feel a difference with the JD Jets module. We could go out to MCMP on the 1st The biggest thing that has helped me on my 350 is riding it more like an old school 2-stroke. Staying 50% throttle or more

Reminded me of an east coast race. I was having a great time until my 350 seized. Thinking maybe a stuck valve. Hopefully should know something tomorrow from the dealer.

    Off-road Rider Fitness

For my schedule (and what I typically set-up) is a 3 day split. Work-out intensity is based off a HRM. Each work-out is basically a HITS. High reps, faster movement, lighter weights. Lot's of core work. When I work legs, it's a combination of weights and elliptical. Each time I hit the gym I'm trying to hit all the muscles that I use on the bike as well as the secondary/supporting muscles. For myself I struggle to get my legs to where I want them to be. 50 year old knees don't like a lot cardio. (on top of that I have a minor meniscus issue in one knee) I've been doing training/health/fitness for over 35 yrs. I'm not a fan of the type of exercises typically done in Crossfit. It's great for getting the HR up, but too much risk for injury. I've known several sports medicine docs who said CF has a high injury rate. No matter what the fitness level, there also has to be an awareness of what a person is doing on the bike. Breathing and staying relaxed are huge. Proper nutrition, supplementation, and hydration are key as well. (I'm still trying to find the right suspension settings. Coming from eastern hare scrambles/enduro to desert) Last year was my 1st year racing here in AZ. Finished 2nd in 40C. Missed being able to race 50C by 8 days.

It's a half mile track. If it rains like they're calling for, it will be interesting. I haven't raced a mudder since racing in Virginia. There was a place down in SW Virginia where they had a banked track for sprints and stock cars. VCHSS has a HS there every year. It was cool you'd start, make about a lap and half then head out onto the mountain. At the end of each lap you'd do 3/4's of a lap aorund the track before heading back out. There's some great video from it. VCHSS Rattlesnake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_hYBhPAB8Q

Both. I don't make much doing freelance work. Just covers my time setting up a program. I work for a gym here in Tucson, but don't see many riders at this location.

That's cool. They can clean up the course some. Less loose rock.

    arizona 2019 Parker 250

I'm planning to race the 2019 Parker 250. I'm going to head out to Parker the 1st weekend of Nov and get in some practice. Does anyone know the usual entry fee for the Parker 250? I haven't been able to find it on the BITD site.

Had a 2013 300 XCW before my 350 XCFW. They are similar, but the 350 revs much higher and pulls wayyyyy longer. I had an 08 450 XCRW before the 300 and it was a beast in the woods. It's nice how the 350 will lug like the 300. I feel it's similar to the old 250 2-stroke MX bikes of the 80's. I think they would rev further than the 300 will. I have the same issue with the 350 not wanting to start hot. Put an EarthX battery in it and it seems to spin a little faster. Won't get the 350 back from AZKKT until next week. Still waiting on my Xtrig collar and couple of small parts from RaceTech. Not sure if I'll get time to test it out on the 22/23. (anniversary is 21st and may have to err on the side of good judgement)
  13. If you're looking to get more fit for off-road riding, I can help. I have 35 yrs of health, fitness and training experience. I'm prior service, 101st Airborne infantry, grew up racing MX. I did track & field in high school. After the Army, I became a critical care nationally registered paramedic. For the last 5 yrs I've been teaching fitness and nutrition, exclusively. I raced hare scrambles in Virginia and living here in Arizona, I'm racing the AMRA series. Finished 2nd in points my 1st yr. I raced the AZOP race in Prescott Valley and finished 1st for 40C. 33rd overall ahead of A and B riders. Being 50 I have a few orthopedic issues that I train around. I know what you need to be faster and safer as an off-road racer. Contact me for one-on-one training in the Tucson area or I can set-up a program for you if you're to far away. Send me a PM with your contact information and I'll be in touch.

Placing 1st in 40C at the AZOP in race Prescott Valley, I feel my fitness is good. My heart rate monitor said I had an average HR of 160 and a max of 180 over the 2.5hrs. I still felt really good after the race. I still need to do some fine tuning on suspension on the 350. I'm doing freelance personal training outside of the gym that I work for if any of you fellas need help with training. Contact me here or on FB. Race Fit Personal Training

    130 hour service

I dropped off my 'KTM 350 XCFW at the dealer last week to have it checked over internally. It's at 136 hours. That's one 1600 mile trip through Baja (Ensenada to Cabo), 7 off-road races and other assorted riding here in Arizona. The head seeped a little oil and the valves made a little more noise than when new. Bike rides OK. Uses a little oil. I did install a new Hinson clutch a couple of races ago. No other work has been on the motor internally. Going by KTM's recommended list it needs abouts $4,000 worth of engine work. Head & valves, piston, rod, crank bearings, etc. What are the things I should address at 130 hours that could fail while I'm on the bike?
