Foot peg bracket broke, can it be welded back?

Rider41, Thanks so much for hitting me back. I didn't even think to pound it back. I assumed a piece snapped off vs a clean break but need to reevaluate. Curious what the welder cost ya? or did you have a buddy? Thanks again!! GP

Foot peg bracket broke, can it be welded back?

Thanks Etech. Music to my ears.
  4. Gents, This past weekend, one side of the bracket that supports the pin secured by the cotter clip and the pedal itself snapped off. See attached pic and please forgive the dirt. Question is can this be welded back? Replacing that piece looks like a nightmare. Thanks in advance!!

  9. Exactly! I got the same feeling Spud. Why would a rancher worry about graphics or buy a KTM for that matter? Best bikes made but its hardly a farm bike. It seemed off to me and almost TGTBT.
  10. He was offering $3500 which seems like a fair deal; however he's not the original owner and said it was used on a ranch in Arizona. Given that he's a 100 miles away, not the original owner, and its lack of maintenance records, I declined. If its buttoned up, that seems about right at $3500 but something is telling me to stay away. This guy has had it on the market for over a month and I gotta wonder why no one is biting at this price. When I told him it probably required some engine maintenance, his response was that it does not even though he doesn't know much about it. 11. Spud, So lets assume the top end hasn't been rebuilt(I assume you mean top end rebuild?) and needs to be but everything else is up to snuff and its clean. What would you think is a fair price? Also, How much is the average rebuild? Thanks so much for getting back. I will definitely check all of these things. Much appreciated! GP
  12. Hey all, I'm a newbie to KTM 4 strokes and have a 300XCW that I use for trails and am now looking at an 09 530exc that I found on CL for desert riding and dual sport. They live far away so I'd like to pull the trigger on arrival unless there are some major issues. My first concern is the mileage. This bike has 11,000 miles. The seller says they are mostly highway miles which I guess many sellers might say. They sent me a video and it starts right up leading me to believe valves are in spec. I have no idea if the top end has been rebuilt. So here are my main questions. Thanks in advance for helping out. I love Thumper talk as I always seem to get good advice. 1. Is that mileage a concern for this bike? If so, what would another buyer do or look for if buying a bike with this wear? 2. Is there anything specific about this year and model I should look out for in terms of wear on this bike or issues that need to be addressed besides jetting? 3. This bike appears straight from the factory without any additional mods. What would you expect to pay for a bike with this mileage and condition assuming everything else appears on the up and up? Thanks again. GP

    Plating a bike in Texas

Hey all, Does anyone know the process for making a dirt bike legal in Texas? I want to convert my ride to street legal, and don't know the process once I get the headlights, taillights, turn signals, etc and make it DOT compliant. Thanks in advance!!
  14. Hello, Does anyone know the process for making a dirt bike legal in Texas? I want to convert my 300xcw to street legal. I do know you can plate a two smoke in TX but don't know the process once I get the headlights, taillights, turn signals, etc. Thanks in advance!!
  15. All, I"m sure a few of y'all have run into the scenario when you first put on a Leatt and decided it wouldn't work with your chest protector. So, I'm curious which models you went with. I know Leatt makes some specifically suited for this, but I'd like to get real world opinions on what has worked best for them. I ride trails with lots of loose stones but its also hot and I want to find a good compromise between protection and air flow. Thanks in advance!! GP
