Hockdog- The pictures you posted clearly display the effects of global warming which you are now aiding with your "diesel burner". Shame on you!

looking for people to ride with in NorCal

We desperately need rain. Daily air filter changes just don't seem right in February

You said it best. Had the same experience this weekend. I'm not quite sure what the answer is here. Unfortunately it seems like it's going to take major accidents before we see any serious action taken. I'm nervous to ride in the front of groups anymore for this reason.

Had a chance to sneak a few miles in at MC on Friday. Snow like crazy, but it was a BLAST. Cuttin fresh tracks all day.
  7. How has your experience been with the 390 kit? I wouldn't be opposed to the upgrade when my top is due, but I can't find any first hand info on performance and reliability.

I'm going to try. I have work off, but I've got a paper due Sunday. I'll know by Friday depending on progress. School sucks the big one. And hopefully my bike is out of the suspension shop by Friday.....supposed to be.

Rode a bit last weekend up at MC after the enduro. Dropped the bike off with Joel yesterday after riding my old mans Beta around for a bit and decided it was time to address my valving. That Beta of his rides nice! Ready to start hitting it hard again this season. Work has been keeping me away too much this year.

Wish I could. Sounds great. I did 2 night rides at Cow this week. Full moon and great temps, but of course super dusty. Looking forward to some rain.
  11. I stayed with the 13/50 gearing. My riding is 90% dirt and the 10% road is just back roads, hardly ever freeway. 13/50 seems to work well for that combo. The occasional shift issues between 2nd-3rd have gone away

Shane and I have tomorrow off. My bike is here and we were thinking about doing some exploring. Doesn't sound like cooperative weather, but could be interesting.

Is that hill climb off the side near that flat clearing a few miles in? Drops into a creek and then heads up the other side of the valley? Or is that part of the normal trail ?

    Stripped oil cover threads

I had the same thing happen on a oil drain bolt. Much larger bolt than you are dealing with. I contemplated forever on what I was going to do. I wanted to do it once and do it right. Leaking oil can be a serious situation when you are in miles away from civilization. Ended up going with a Time Sert. It is expensive, but well worth it. If you take the time and do it right, it will be better than new. You will have solid steel sleeves. If I was splitting cases on anything, I would probably install Time Serts in critical locations. Much better than stock threads and better for applications that are being removed often. With the size hole you are dealing with and the low required torque, a properly installed helicoil would be just fine though. Thought I'd share my .02
