  1. I just purchased a 2000 KLR 650. I really thought it was a white bike with a military green gas tank and a blue front fender until I got a closer look. The plastic had suffered severe oxidation. So away I went with 220 grit sandpaper. Indeed, it is a green bike after all. But I don't like this green... I bought the Krylon "fusion" plastic bonding paint and went with red. Sand, paint, sand, paint, sand, paint....Its the auto body guy in me.... So far, so good. Its a lot of work, of course. I also used the Krylon UV protecting clear coat also, which helps make a nice deep gloss. Time will tell if this little project was worth the effort.
