    Windham to Yamaha!

Uh, because it isn't NASCAR? As a general rule, the guys who are "on top" in NASCAR are older, more mature, and probably (just a guess here) have a bit more education than the average MX star. And if not formal education, they've probably got a little more "real life" education. They have larger support groups around them to "coach" them in the art of public relations, etc. Everyone tries to compare MX to NASCAR, but it just doesn't work.

If you're referring to Carmichael leaving the sport at 27 because he was "bored" with it, then I think you have the wrong outlook on what really happened. Carmichael won a lot, obviously, and accomplished things that really hadn't been done before if you look at the big picture. Carmichael had opportunities to pursue a career that he could perform for a much longer time, physically, than he could in SX and MX. Had he waited another 5 years, those opportunities might not have been there at all or at best the odds of him rising through the ranks would have been cut greatly. I think he saw what happened with Ricky Johnson's NASCAR adventure and learned a good lesson; start as early as possible. If you lost respect for Carmichael for that decision, then you never truly respected him in the first place. As for the money thing, their market will play out. If the money is there, they won't get it. Just like you and I do, they need to decide whether the job they are considering is worth the income offered. People keep forgetting that this is their livelihood, not their hobby any more.

Pourcel to ride the 250F AGAIN next year

The french translation is a bit hard to follow, but I think I get the gist of it. It's easy to tell someone else that they shouldn't take money into consideration like that, but the fact is that Pourcel probably knows more than most how fragile a career can be and how his earning power can be taken away in a split second. The earning window for these guys is pretty small, and for some it becomes VERY small with a major mishap. If PC offered him the best earning power, it's hard to argue that he should have taken less money to move up if he had eligibility left. I have a feeling that CP probably got a pretty decent amount of coin through Factory Kawasaki (and Monster) to stay on the green machines. This is the way these guys make a living, the writer of that opinion piece seems to have forgotten that. The "romance" of the sport is easy to sing about if it's someone else's living that's the one being talked about.

Was there really a question about his eligibility? I must have missed that, but the rules looked perfectly clear that he was eligible.......

    Philippaerts and Tedesco.

Paul, I hate to sound condescending, but is this really your first rodeo? There was a huge difference between the situations. For the second moto, the finishing position was the most important thing. Neither team had a "throw away" until after that moto was done. However, after the second moto it was pretty clear that if Italy was to finish ahead of the US, a US rider needed to have a VERY bad moto or better yet a DNF. That would require the US to use Weimer's 25th place finish, and give Italy and every other team a great chance of beating the US. That's the motivation for trying to take out the US rider, and that motivation wasn't as pressing in the moto before that. In this instance, the battle was to try to force a DNF or a back of the pack finish on Tedesco, and that didn't work. So in essence, Tedesco DID win the battle, and also the war. Now perhaps you should check into some counseling to help you overcome this drinking problem you seem to have.........

You might be off by a year or six, give or take.......

Well, so much for your theory about better education. You don't even understand what a democracy is! Har!

You went after Tedesco after the race while you were drunk and you are talking about manners? Really?

    It continues....trash talking.

Part of me thinks that they are playing a lot of folks, but I don't doubt that they each eant to beat each other into submission.........

Holy cow, the idiot went after Tedesco after the race, drunkingly telling him that they were simply lucky, and he believes he remained respectful? What a POS.......

Maybe they aren't, but when MXA tested Rattray's PC bike that was one of the KHI parts they mentioned....... Maybe they got that wrong?
