    New to TE300, looking for a suspension article.

    We're pretty close to the same weight and I've had good success with .44 springs in the front and a 7.2 spring on the shock. One thing that is different, though, is that mine is lowered ~1". There are a lot of "fixes" that suspension shops do to the 4CS forks, most of which are expensive. From my own experience and that of a couple of other local 'Berg owners, I can recommend Dave Kyle at Enduro Engineering. His results are good, the turn-around is quick and the price is very reasonable. Whichever shop you choose, get both ends done at the same time. Do a search on the TT KTM 2-stroke forum for KTM 300 jetting. Look for someone in your area for comparison.

    KTM rims (hubs) working on a te300?

    Both front and rear wheels on the Berg '13 TE300 are interchangeable with KTM stuff back to 2004 and maybe 2003. The wheels through 2015 should also fit. I regularly swap wheels between an '05 KTM, an '07 KTM, a '12 KTM and my Berg depending on terrain/weather and unexpected flats. I have 50T or 51T sprockets on all of them, so I have to adjust the chain a bit. Both the '12 XCF-W and the '13 Berg have those ripple spacers, but other than that, the spacers and the wheel hubs have the same dimensions as the '05 and '07. All other hardware (sprockets, brake discs, odo magnet, seals and bearings) is identical. I have a set of orange rims laced up for the '05 and they really look "unique" on the Berg. Just order up a set wheels for a 2013 KTM 300 XC.

    I just had Ron Black do the carb (bore, blade and slide) on my '13 Berg TE300 and it was well worth it. If you do decide get it done, get his mixture screw also. It's a lot handier than a screwdriver and makes adjustments much quicker. The cost of the mods/parts he did to mine was a bit more that you mentioned, though. I have nothing against Lectrons either, and bought several of them many years ago, using them on Rotax rotary-valve engines and big bore KTMs with great success. I always found them to be excellent performers with very good fuel mileage. I still have an early 44mm Lectron that was on my GS420. My observations have been that for a given bore size, the RBD mods seem produce more bottom end response. Bernoulli strikes again!

    Thanks, but with an NECJ #3 (as i understand it, 1/2 clip leaner) it was far too crisp and had a slight hint of detonation in cooler, higher humidity areas (deep woods) under load. I believe the NEDJ #2 would be even leaner, too lean, at least for me to risk.

    2013 Husaberg TE300 700'-1500' altitude @ 64* w/72 % humidity RB Designs Carb SX head & CDI Stock pipe w/FMF-Powerparts turbine core 2 Yellow PV spring @ factory recommended setting (~ 2 turns) 5 oz. flywheel weight Motul 800 @ 50:1 in BP/AMACO 93 octane # 8 slide 40 pilot NEDJ #3 172 main Mixture screw adjusted for best response The Good - Starts very easily, pulls clean at all rpms with just a light ring around the SA tip, grunts almost like my 525 and gets pretty good mileage (I'll put a figure on it later) The Bad - Has ultra sensitive throttle (even with the correct amount of play) and a pleasantly terrifying hit. The Ugly - The hit is nasty on wet leaves over a clay and rock base. Short-staining throttle response when encountering hidden rocks and roots. I can't imagine what the red spring would do. Right now, I already have a G2 throttle tube w/100 cam and will probably go to the 400 cam, as it worked really well on my 525 and 470. Both have rheostat-like control with power just a few degrees more twist.
  6. The Z-Start Pro from Rekluse is an excellent choice for the RFS motors. Start with the longer of the two black springs if you ride a lot of technical or slick stuff. Also, try 14/52 gearing, and you'll get better chain life than any combo using a 12T or even a 13T front. The sprocket comment is qualified based on the experience of riding a lot of wet, muddy stuff that has a pretty heavy sand component (very abrasive) and the tighter chain radius on the smaller front sprockets seems to generate shorter life on both the sprocket and the chain.

    Check your wiring harness connectors (usually the 3-pin) under the tank. They're not waterproof and your can get some drain there. Corrosion (green) will be evident if drainage is present. Some trailer plug dielectric grease (after cleaning) will help if this is the case.
  8. Is this 450 a short cylinder (SX, SMR, XC) with the short con rod? If so, a stroker is out of the question . But, you could have the cylinder resleeved to the more conservative 97 mm bore or go for the gusto with a resleeve to the 99 mm bore. You didn't show the bottom of the cylinder, so it's hard to determine the actual sleeve thickness from the photos. On the other hand, if its the standard 450/520 height cylinder, stroking would be o.k. and there are several builders that offer big bore or big bore/stroker combos , as well as the factory ($$$$$) 540 kit cylinder/piston.
