    CR250 rattle during high RPM?

Its more than likely detonation or pinging, its always an issue on the 05-07 CR250's.....especially with a nice fresh top end and plenty of compression! What fuel are you running? Can you get hold of a higher octane fuel like avgas? Theres plenty of info here on TT about this problem, the majority of 05-07 owners end up getting the head re-cut and excessive squish problem resolved = no more pinging or detonation and a sweet running bike.

    2005 - 2007 cr250 cylinder measurement

Ive done the same '030 base milling job on my 07 cylinder and the 4 holes were pretty much machined away to nothing. Recently i did a full rebuild on a mates 07 CR250 and ordered a stack of brand new OEM parts including a new cylinder. His new cylinder was also machined the same '030 as mine and i was surprised to see that the 4 casting holes were still there and had plenty of depth left in them. The base machining was done by the same milling machine and operated by the same highly experienced machinist both times. So, it looks like the casting holes are inconsistant and cant be used as a machining reference. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck with the rebuild..........the base mod is a great thing!! cheers

    2018 CR500?

I decided a couple of weeks ago to unfollow "latest mx videos" ......they've lost the plot and 99% of their posts and stories are crap and total clickbait shite!

    People are cheap hackers

My favourite is where the guys uncle who knows a bit about dirtbikes has" had a crack " at getting the top end off and smashed a nice big flat blade screwdriver into the base of the cylinder..........

    CR250R 2-Stroke Rebuild - OEM Parts Advice

Good call on sending that dodgy cylinder back.......i had a similar situation with a replated 02 cylinder that had a relieved exhaust bridge. the relief work around the exhaust port was pretty average and costing me around 40psi in lost compression! This was also with using the thinner 05-07 base gasket! The compression should have been around the 200psi mark, but it wouldnt get over 160psi. the replating company were really good, and replaced the cylinder. Worked out great in the end

    New '07 CR250!

Revisiting a great thread after a couple of years! Its one i recommend to every 3rd gen CR250 owner to have a read! Cam P did you end up raising the exhaust port in the end? cheers

    Finally found my unicorn!!

I say ride it.........but not too much.......wash it after every ride, and lather it up in bike shine and protectant............it'll look like new forever! dont let it sit, they are a sweet bike to ride. Check out my 07, which has been ridden quite a bit over the last 10 years and had a few top ends etc

    2011 CR250 Build

Congrats and well done on an Awesome build with lots of attention to detail......including those challenges that we could expect trying to build an AF."..................cant wait for the ride report! .. one thing ive always wondered and noticed on AF conversions is the leftover headstay holes in the frames from the CRF motor. Have you thought about faking it and putting some nice looking bolts to fill those holes? A bit like the one you used for the fuel tap? Even though they dont do anything......Just a suggestion. cheers on a great build

    My 07 CR250 build

I dont get it? Why build one of the sweetest 07's on the planet....then strip it down to sell it? Surely you can get a top price for a bike like that by selling it complete? How much does it actually owe you? I know i could easily sell mine for $6000 AUD and mine definately has less trick parts than yours.....cheers

  12. Any idea why one of the crated bikes went for $2K more than the other two? Were there many bidders?
  13. The restored 2007 CR250 just sold for $5500 USD! Edit...........it was sold for $5000 USD.....the next asking bid was $5500 which was not made
  14. So there are actually 4 of the 2007 models.....3 in crates plus one that is used but restored to OEM new condition. This could be the one to watch to see what it could fetch during the bidding, and used as a reference for other used and restored CR's. Also a handful of 73 elsinore CR250's.
