    XR 200 / 120 psi. Should it start ?

Update, it was a dirty CDI / PULSER pick up.....cleaned it up....& it started first kick. Trouble shooting electrical...always sooo much fun............NOT.

    XR 200 / 120 psi. Should it start ?

I un hooked the decompression. also 120 psi stayed on the gage for 2 hours, so i know it isn't a valve issue. Going to check coil values today, & cam timing. I know the crank is in time. My Clymer manual does't give any electrical values on the XR 200 yr 2000 model....strange....everything but.....so i will use the 99 values listed.

    XR 200 / 120 psi. Should it start ?

I hear ya...i figured she'd go with 120 psi as well,,,but no dice, with a few plugs. A little stumped,,,but i'll figure it out. I even primed it, tried abit of oil in the cylinder, etc. 120 psi, spark, & fuel...she should light up.
  4. Spec says 199 psi. Valve clearance ok, Timing marks ok, spark seems good, but bike quit after being lent to a friend,by one of my customers. (customers friend) Not sure what he put the bike through, but it was brought to me because it would not go, & the clutch would not engage...fixed that (clutch hub nut backed off)

Replaced R Intake With Stock Titanium ?

I guess so. My last valve clearance check before i replaced the valve was zeroed, & that was with the smallest shim in the shim kit (120). Replaced with an O.E.M. Titanium valve, with a 190 shim for specified clearance, & it is still in spec after a 40 hr check. Anyone know what size shim is on the intake side from factory when new....may differ but, any ideas ???

    Where to send my head?

40 hours on the new valve, checked clearance today...perfect No head work, just a stock valve

Replaced R Intake With Stock Titanium ?

40 hour mark clearance check. Still in spec . I thought it would seat more...but nope, still in same spec as when i changed it. Imagine that, no head work or nothing....just replace the Stock Right intake titanium valve with another stock titanium valve. Starts & runs like a champ.....cheap fix

Replaced R Intake With Stock Titanium ?

Either way, i'll go all in on the off season with new piston SS valves, & head work....if it makes it that far. Big ride today !!! Can't wait She is running awesome with the R pipe, airbox md, & jetting May go alittle heavier on the leak jet....will see after today's ride. Pics forth comming
  10. I just done it, & took it for a rip ....Shim size for clearance was a 190. What is the common stock shim from the factory i wonder ???? How long do you think i'll get out of this valve. No head work done.

    Where to send my head?

I just bought a stock Titanium valve, & going to slap it in over the weekend. I also zeroed on my R Intake. See how this goes, & next winter do the whole deal....piston, head work etc. Anyone else just drop a stock valve in, shim & go ???

R pipe on an X response for Newfie CRF

I'm capable of doing most any kind of wrenching on a bike,,,i was just looking for input about the X specifically. My bike is a stock 08, aside from the R muffler now,,,& new fork springs, shock spring, & high bends i put on today It ran fine with the X modded muffler (defuser removed),,,but i was looking to shed a few pounds, & went with the R can......figured i'd ask if i should up the needle a notch, or up the main for safety. In any case, i got some great replies, & info in that regard after owning up to being an impatient a$$.

Replace SS Valves myself,,,no head work ?

Yeah, i think i'll lap them & install the correct springs with them. Then do a leak test. I'll wait until they go out of spec again. Then drop the SS & springs in.................. I do ride alot, & hit the MX track on ocassion as well. Thanks for the advice...LOVE MY X !!!
  15. Opinions ??? Or send my head 2000 miles to get done. I live in the far North Atlantic....it ain't easy !!! GRRRRRRRRRRR. Especially when you need something, or something done. I can do my own work, but head work needs special tooling...or does it ??? May just put them in, lap them, & see how it goes. 2008 X. I adjusted the vales once already......next time maybe a SS swap.
