  1. On all the re-builds I did, I just take it to Honda of Sanford and pay the 20 bucks for the prep work. They woul clean any old gasket letf on the base and head portion, hone it and clean it really good. Worth it to me.

  5. How was the install? Pretty straight foward? I am deployed now and buying up some goodies for my dirt bikes for when I get home. A replacement clutch kit or totaly new set up were on my mind for upgrades. I am just wondering what to do. Thanks, Scott

Gas tank is warped at the petcock/leaks.

We have a 2010 and it belongs to my youngest. Same problem. Got the bike brand new, east coast and it drools fuel all over the place. I am deployed now so the tank is empty. What was the process to accuore a new tank from Kawasaki? Thanks

    My 2011 450 build.

If you are going to post pictures of your bike in your house, you should clean your house prior to taking the pictures. Just an observation.

    2007 CRF250

We got ours brand new in 08. Bike has had no problems other then the valves tightening up. Took it to the dealer and got them adjusted, now it fires on one to two kicks like new. If I could find another brand new left over somewhere I would buy it for my middle son.

    Exhaust/back tire suggestions for an 06 crf250r

We found that the stock was the best set up for the bike. You can pick them up pretty cheap for new on eBay and that's way cheaper then aftermarket. As for tires we tried 110/80/19 MX-51 and my son didn't like it. We run the 100/90/19 MX-51 and love it for the tracks in our area.

    what oil? 2010 crf250r

I am a bit extreme, my 450 and my sons 250 get a new filter and Rottela oil change after each ride. The motors are tracked with hour meters but the oil/filter is changed after each ride. We have been doing this for years and never had a motor fail on us.

You get what you pay for. I have three kids riding. 150-200 bucks aren't worth it. They have fox v3 and shoei. Just saying look for sales on high end helmets or save for new. The fox v1 is not what I want if my head hits the ground.
  14. Are we for real?? Gathered around the TV Saturday night for A-1 and this A$$ Clown is singing some cruddy song. The video of Metz and Deegan in thongs riding that clapped out CR would have been way better. I'm sorry Thumper Talk for slamming this guy and if you must ban me for this I will accept it with honor. But Brett Michaels??!! Ralph, Jeff and "Little" Ricky are enough to deal with during the coverage and listing to "Like For sure that guy may get the Rock Hard award given by Brett Michaels" is plenty. There are so many other racers on the track during the main event for the 450s. We don't need the above three guys referencing the #7 67 times in the twenty laps. Don't believe me go back to your DVR and count. Its true. Look I love SX with all my heart and my kids love it as well but when the 8 year old son says it was weak I will take his side. Take this for instance. I was deployed to Pakistan and while my wife took the kids to Jacksonville for the super cross in 2010 I was on the phone with her while she waited in K-Dubs line. She asked him if he would speak to me and he did for about 5 minutes. That was classy. What's even better last year when we went back to Jacksonville we went back to the Geico rig to check out the bikes. K-Dub was there and we spoke for a while. He remembered the phone conversation and took time for the conversation. Class act. Look I may be a little mad right now, got some issues built up from 20 years in the Army and all the deployments since some COWARDS flew some planes into some buildings, today is the two year anniversary since I last saw my buddy when we lost him to a IED, but all I have to say is...... Really Brett Michaels???

    new gen crf450

Clutch is iffy depending on the amount of abuse you throw at it.
  16. As for the riding it is different, however the four strokes love to have fresh oil with oil filters and fresh air filters. Keep those good and the bike will be good to you.

Things to look for/ask when looking at '09 CRF 250

Do not get wrapped around the axle for wear out items such as chain and sprockets, grips brake pads and such. These items do add flare to a "used" dirt bike, however they can easily be replaced with what you want and will give you room to work on getting the bike at a better price. Look for clean bikes, check the motor out, clutch engagement. I do change the oil after every ride and will show you the drawer full of new oil filters and the multiple jugs of rotela oil in the shop. Just keep this in mind. It is a used dirt bike. It is a toy and not a tool or primary mode of transportation. If someone is selling one think about why they are selling it and make sure you ask. I found a "like new" Honda CR85 expert for 1,500. Guy need to sell fast. Claimed he bought it for his wife and need to sell. Turned out he had a wife that was ready to go into labor at any time when I showed up to buy the bike. Bike was near perfect. On the other hand bought a 99 YZ 125 back in 02. Looked great, had the new renthal bars and sprockets with the Yamaha of Troy graphics on it. Looked good. Till it needed everything after just one ride. Oh well I sold it and broke even. Good luck and I hope you find what your looking for.

    Adam Cianciarulo....opinions?

Both my boys had the opportunity to race against Cooper Webb at Wide Open MX Park in North Carolina just one week prior to the MEC on 250Fs, Needless to say my kids got whooped like everyone else on the track in the open class but were so pumped to be on the starting gate with him. Afterwards they went over and thanked him for a memorable race, he was super cool and started to go over some points about the track for the next Moto. We have also ridden with Cooper several other times when he was on his 150R. He is down to earth and we will be watching and waiting for him to make his pro debut on his KTM. The attitude Cooper has is more on the professional side and won't turn his nose to the kids that know him locally at the track. AC is so worried about his followers on twitter and not the real people at the track. Just saying….

    Track Fees

I pay a flat rate of $550 a year for a family membership to our track. That includes riding everyday they are open for practice. Not bad when you have 4 riders in the family.
  21. My son is 12 years old and has been riding since he was 3 and racing since he was 5. He is on a 2005 CR85 expert with only a v-force reed cage and a Pro Circuit shorty silencer. He is tall and mostly legs (mom is 6' and I am 6'4"). He loves his bike but wants more power, not a 125 or 250F till he is 14 so he says. He has ridden his brothers 2007 CRF250 with no problems, just wants to stay on 85 till 14 then move up (fine with me). My question is: Will a pipe do anymore for the motor? Is the 105 kit for Eric Gore or Lukes racing worth it? He raced last weekend in the 12-15 year old 85cc and 85-105 super mini with pretty good results. He wants more power and I just need some sugjestions. Thanks, Scott

    Tall 12 year old + CR85 Expert = ?

That's good to hear. Did you have any jetting requirements? What pipe combo odd you use? My son Logan is fast and confident on the 85, but even watching him he needs the extra power.

    financing a dirt bike?

I watched my buddy at the motocross track breakdown when his oldest son blew the motor on a 2011 CRF 250. Sad thing is he had to explain to his wife that they still had to make payments on a very broken bike that could not be used anymore due to not enough money to fix it. I have to pay cash for all my bikes. Law from my wife.

    150r or cr85?

My 12 year old races a CR85 expert and has tried the CRF150R and hated it. Granted he has been fast on 2T since starting out at 3 years old. We are picking up a low hour 2007 CR125 for him this weekend. He likes the power and handling of the CR over the CRF. We also have a 250f that my 16 rear old races and my 12 year old has tried it out and is not fond of it at all. But if you ask my 16 year old he can't stand 2Ts. He has messed with YZ85's, CR85's but really found his speed on the 4Ts. It has been a blast working with my sons and their bikes. I would find someone that would be willing to let you compare the 2 bikes. Spend some time on the 150r (not just a few laps) even try it at a couple of different tracks. Both bikes are a good platform. Have fun
