DRZ250 TM28 Carb Main Jet Sizes Uncork

Here is our findings on the correct part numbers for the jets for the TM28 Carb. We pulled the jets out to have a look and measure them. The main jet part number is N100.604 Large round Jet We ordered a #137.5 #142.5 and #147.5 The pilot part number is VM28/486 We ordered a #40 pilot http://www.pjmotorsports.com/mikuni-jets.html
  2. Hey Thumpers, We just picked up another DRZ...woot My son has moved up from a DRz125L and we picked up a nice 2002 DRZ250. Still has original back tire !! We are planning on doing a few mods and are following the "Uncork Your DRZ250" how to. PDF Here: Uncork Your DRZ250 I am a little confused about the main jet sizes listed in the “how to” It states the TM28 Stock Main Jet is #127.5 (4/042 180) So the (100.604) #127.5 is the round main jet and the (4/042) 180 is the hex main jet. The how to says I need 2,3 and 4 sizes up from stock. And says I need #137.5, #142.5, and #147.5 (4/042 180) ? This doesn't make sense ? So without taking the carb apart to look, does anyone know if this tm28 use the round jets or the hex jets? We are going to remove the restrictor weld from the header and add an FMF slip on. We will then do the airbox mod and replace the airfilter with a UNI filter. As per the "how to" we will change the pilot from a #37.5 to a #40 And shim the jet needle with three .025 washers. Can anyone chime in with more specifics on which main jet will work best for our future setup? Thanks in advance thumpers.

I also switched the high and low beam around so all lights are lit up on the low switch setting. I can dim if necessary by switching to high beam. I dont drive at night normally. Hopefully its not too bright for day riding. We will see. the fit worked out great for me. Really tight fit though. I think this a really good looking mod !! Thanks for everyone who posted pics. I couldn't have done it without them. What I did differently was bend the mount that came with the light the other way and I made two metal extensions to mount the light where I wanted it. I also shifted the light up 1/8 by drilling a couple of new holes in the existing mount. I had measured the distance from the original bulb lens to the stock mount on the bottom and top with a caliper. I then tried to match these measurements with the custom LED mount. Here is some pics of my slightly modified version. I got 2 of these lamps on ebay for $40 Can. Sweet deal I think. Cheers !!

Oh man I just realised the connector was wired backwards on both of my lamps. The ground and one of the power wires needed to be reversed. I am a happy thumper now. I will post pics of my mount as well. I mounted mine flush like the original lamp. Looks cool !!...... Brrrrrraaaap !!

I had some bad luck. I purchased these lights but they do not work on my DRZ. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2PC-4X6-INCH-45W-LED-HEADLIGHT-DRIVING-LAMP-SEALED-BEAM-OFFROAD-JEEP-BOAT-4X4WD-/182123412318?hash=item2a6766bb5e:g:vmoAAOSwShJXLxSj I get dim low beams on no high beams at all. They must require a bit more power to run? I tried them on a 12 volt car battery and the lights work fine but not on my DRZ. I have now ordered one of the lights posted on this forum. There are some small spec differences but very little. Crap.
  9. Here is a video of the T4 Exhaust installed. My 13 yr old son is quite happy with this LOUD pipe. So i am not quite sure all the listings for this pipe omitted a few years of the DRZ125L but this pipe fit great in our 2010. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUs-QY7nh1Q&feature=em-subs_digest Cheers

This is a 2010 model. The cheap carb seems to be the only down fall right now. Hard to cold start.
  11. I just picked up another DRZ for my son and am interested in doing a few mods. This is a 2010 DRZ125L and was going to purchase a Pro Circuit T4 Full Exhaust for it. For some reason all the listings for this exhaust that I read do not list the 2010 as a fit. They do list the 2009. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/390961649124?euid=86217ffc5e1b4e28b54918939e32311c&cp=1 Did they make some changes to the bike in 2010? A few of the full exhaust listings dont list the 2010, 2011 as being compatible . Whats up with this? When I added this bike to my thumper garage they skip the 2010, 2011 years. Why? I did order a some new jets for the carb and also plan on drilling out the plug for the fuel mixture screw and re-jetting. As well open the air box a bit. The jets I ordered are Pilot Jet - #20 VM28/486/20 and Main Jet - (RS, HS) #110 N100.604/110 . I also ordered a #17.5 pilot because I am not exactly sure what the stock one is and just want to go one size larger. Sound ok? Cheers !!

The windshield was an idea I got from this forum. The instructions are on here just do a search. I bought this windshield on eBay for about $20. It was then trimmed and mounted with some homemade standoffs made from plastic tubing with some stainless steel hardware that I painted black. I think it turned out good and looks like it belongs. It does work well and deflects the wind as it should. I played with the angle and found a sweet spot.
