    Algonquin West ATV trails

Yeah I thought you ment Kearney. I'd say give er man. You won't be the only guy on two wheels through there. The atvs are much harder on the trails than bikes. I wouldn't worry about it

2012 250 xcw top end help

Hi guys. I purchased a used xcw in the fall. It gas 117 hour on it and I have maybe put 1 hour on. It rode fine and starts fine. Compression test showed 150psi. So I decided to tear it down to do a top end. My piston says ktm and vertex on the bottom. Also says A. I'm assuming this is the first time it's been apart. I called dealer here in Canada and they want 360 for full top end kit with gaskets. Seems high but that's dealer price. What's the best option here? Should I stick with oem and pay the premium? Or should I get a wiseco and save 100$? I race novice c cross country. Nothing too crazy. Do I get another size a or do I get a b size? If I go wiseco what size do I Get?? Any help appreciated Pistons still looks ok to me, I whiped off the carbon on the top to read numbers.

    Gear oil drained white

The bike at 115 hours. When I drained it though it looked perfect. What's the best way to check a waterpymp seal or a crankcase seal

    Gear oil drained white

Hopefully I'm over thinking it and it's just condensation. Bike and garage are cold. 40 degrees F probably

    Gear oil drained white

Hi guys. I just purchased a 2012 250xcw. It's winter here in Canada so was only able to go for a little half hour ride. Rode good but felt lean mid throttle. I'm going to re jet in spring. Jets are stock. 4th clip 35 pilot 165 main My issue I've found today is this. Drained the gear oil. It was a nice blue color not too dirty. But I noticed it was low. Nothing came out of the fill hole even when tipped over a bit. I put in 800ml of amsoil gear oil. Started it up and let it get warm. Kind of smelt different. Not sure how to explain and seemed like some white smoke. Opening the fill plug and oil was white and foamy. Let sit checked again and it looked good. Started up. Same thing. Any ideas? Coolant is full and looks normal. If anyone could recommend jetting specs to try I would appreciate it. Ontario Canada, sea level. I ride woods and singlwtrack

    Rebuilt motor. Excessive cam wear

Looked to be sand. Like I said I rode a sand track last time when it started.

    Rebuilt motor. Excessive cam wear

Update: You guys are right. Blew compressed air through the port and she was solid plugged. Made a small wire to poke through then blew it out again, worked like a charm. Unfortunately the damage is done. But very glad to find the solution. Thanks again

    Rebuilt motor. Excessive cam wear

Ok. I'll pull cams today and check the oil jets. The tensioner is an auto one. Works off oil pressure.

I dont believe i have buckets, the valve shims sit ontop of the valve springs, and the finger followers sit on them?
  15. Hey everyone. Just did the top end on my ktm 250sxf roughly 10 hours ago. Lately it has a hard time hot starting. I noticed a noise which sounded like the cam chain tensioner. Pulled it apart to find this excessive wear on the intake cam!!! I also just shunned valves and they were in spec. What gives? Why is it just this one area? could I have a blocked oil passage? The first picture is the cam before rebuilt, second is after with the damage. I also noticed the cam gear is discoloured probably from heat.
