  1. My brother and I went riding at Soboba Reservation. Not sure if you are supposed to be riding there or not but they do host some District 37 rides. We were hauling up a sweet single track ridge top ride as a 2 smoke single rider passed us in a hurry. When we got to the top of the hill and took our helmets off for a breather we could see a pickup and a quad on top of a hill a mile away with a few 'ants' milling around. We heard a couple of gun shots and heard the bullets wizz past us. I yelled "they're shooting at us" and we geared up and got the F out of there. That is the eeriest thing ever to hear bullets wizzing past you, on purpose. Never will I ride at a reservation again. They make up their own rules as they go.

What did you do to your DRZ400 today?

Not exactly today but... Went riding in and around Ocotillo. Eff'ed up my shoulder big time with a get-off at about 50mph on a power line road.Had to ride back to camp a good 50 miles away with a non functional shoulder. My car and my brothers truck got stuck on the way out. Had to get both vehicles unstuck while in massive pain and could barely use one arm, all after dark. We were all setup to do La-B-2-V to boot. I got my MRI results and looks like I will recover 100% with no surgery (thank God). Just some very serious muscle trauma. I got to test out my British Motorcycle Gear Adventure jacket, Klim Dakar pants and Klim Inversion gloves. Dakar pants are a 100% recommendation for hot or cold with great ventilation if needed. The gloves are ok. They dont breathe and collect moisture inside. When it gets cold, the moisture gets cold. The jacket did/didnt survive very well. The drink bladder is useless and was the primary reason i purchased the jacket. On my 50mpg get-off it ripped the left shoulder open. Luckily it didnt rip the material but ripped the stitching open so I can get it repaired the local dry cleaner repair shop. My DRZ/tank doesnt have any damage. It re-positioned my left Zeta hand guard but thats it! Bummer to miss B-2-V again but at least the doc's dont have to cut on me.

What did you BUY for your DRZ today

I snapped my MCL a few years ago. I can still predict "rain". Its pretty weird to be able to bend your knee sideways. It hurt like a mofo for about 15 mins and the pain went away till the next day when my knee swelled like a watermelon and turned black and blue. Luckily the MCL repairs itself.

What did you BUY for your DRZ today

I just ordered Symtec grip heaters and pillow top grips. The leads broke off of my old grip heaters so i decided to get the Symtec's so that the resistor doesnt break again.

Put new dirt tires on it and took it for a quick street spin. D606 rear and MT21 front.

I forgot. I also installed the foldable mirrors from Wheeling. What a POS!!!! They fold pretty easily and will pass inspection which is cool but for over $50 a pair (sold seperately) I would expect them to work waaaaaaaay better. They shake like crazy at any speed. Literally ANY speed. They cost 3 times more than the $15 bar end mounts and another set of $15 lever mount cheapy's that i normally buy. The lever mount cheapy's from FleaBay actually work best but the ball joint on the mirror end wears out due to brush to the point that they move by themselves on the highway. I feel very disappointed right now.

Installed a D606 on the rear and an MT21 on the front. Took it for a very short highway test spin. Very, very, very BAD SPEED wobble. I have run through a few tires with the bike and haven't had speed wobble this bad before. It has to be the front. I haven't run the M21 before. Too bad and too late now. Luckily it's intended for the offroad. Any input on the speed wobbles?

The tank is leaking at the left side recess that slides over the rubber bumpers on the frame. I wont ship it since it wreaks of fuel. I installed the IMS 3.2 and Unabiker guards. The Unabikers took a bit of modding to get them to fit around the Mishimoto radiators. It all feels very sturdy now.

    Ballistic 12 cell

Has anybody fitted a 12 cell? The measurements online are only slightly larger than stock. Obviously the battery box will need to be modified.

What did you BUY for your DRZ today

Ordered IMS 3.2g natural color tank. My IMS 4.0 cracked last weekend where the rubber frame bumpers slide into slots in the tank. I never even laid the bike down and didnt notice it till after a fueled up. I also ordered shrouds since the old 4.0 had built in shrouds. Ordered decals for the shrouds. Ordered Unabikers since the 4.0 isnt protecting the radiators anymore. I also got some new mirrors since I cant see anything with the underbar mirrors.

    LA-B-Vegas 2012 (LAB2V)

Quality Inn in Barstow is same price with or without the code.(I called to verify). There is no where to enter the code when reserving online. The "group" rate for The Orleans is the same as without the code at this point. Again, there is nowhere on their site to enter the code. I put a note with my online reservation questioning that there was no where to enter the code. They replied that rate is the same. I DID HOWEVER SUCCESSFULLY USE THE CODE ON THE HOLIDAY INN SITE FOR THANKSGIVING NIGHT!!!!! Too bad the hotels gouge when they know there is an event nearby. C U There!!!!

    Best seat DRZ400

I made my own custom memory foam seat. Its like riding on a soft couch. The previous owner had trimmed the stock foam almost in half and modified the stock seat cover to fit it. I bought a new full sized gripper cover and a memory foam pillow from Sears. I contact cemented the memory foam on top of what was left of the stock foam and used an electric turkey carver to shape it. Then I slipped the gripper cover on and stapled it in place. I dont have any pics but it looks like a regular ole gripper standard height seat. Its very comfortable. The hardest part is finding a stapler that will penetrate the plastic shell without bending the staples. Good luck.
