  1. My guess is the ring is intermittently sticking in the ring groove, thus the fluctuation in compression. It is the only part that floats around in the top end. Have somebody else inspect the piston grooves to ensure it is 100%

Clicking noise from front break caliper?

    Is it a floating disk?

Me too. Don't want to tear it down just yet. The fall is prime riding season in the north east. Complete top and bottom end as a winter project, though.

FOUND IT!! I replaced the governor shaft because the pivots were egged out. The pin fell out when I removed the small phillips screw. Thanks to all of you for your help.

I agree 92046 could be the one . To check the 92046, the cases have to be split , correct ? I might have to order one and compare the needle to the one I found. What bearing is treedodger talking about in post #8?

Thanks for the info. Is it under the idler gear for the kick starter? I will check it when i get home from work.

Does anybody have a collar bearing and measure the pin. I really don't want to split the cases if i don't have to .

Not the clutch cover pins or the ones rbreak suggested. Everything seems in good order, but I'm afraid to ride it now. If anybody has their cases split, can you see if there are any needle bearings that are 3/8 long.

Thanks for the reply . The three you mentioned are accounted for.

Found this floating around underneath the power valve governor (between the governor and the governor bearing ). It looks like a needle bearing. The only clue is its size. checked clutch basket bearing and it's ok. Any help is greatly appreciated

    1998 cdi in a 05 kx250 for test purpose

Spring is good. I put grease on the spring to dampen the vibration. Seems to stop it from breaking.

    1998 cdi in a 05 kx250 for test purpose

Timing is at center mrk. Advancing timing does not improve the low end. It does make it detonate, though.
  13. Is it possible to hard-wire a 98 kx250 cdi (pn 21119-1507) to work in a 2005 kx250? I just need the bike to start and run for test purposes. I need to rule out the 05 cdi for the problem i'm having. The 05 starts and idles perfectly. It has great top end, but hardly any low to mid. The engine has great compression and the power valve is working properly and has fresh vforce3 reeds. 162 main, 50 pilot, air screw 2 turns. Fmf fatty w/ stock silencer. New power valve governor spring w/ fmf spacer. It feels like a 125 in the low to mid. Can the cdi be timing the engine wrong? Any suggestions? If anybody has a wiring diagram for the 98 cdi, would you post a pic of it. Thanks

Had to repost some pics. Hope you can it done.
  15. Heat up an old socket the size of the inner race with a torch. Set it on the inner race for a minute. Remove and assemble. Works like a charm. Sorry Timtee. Didn't see your post.
