    86 Cr250 Mx revival

See I couldn't decide wether to rebuild the stock stuff of swap it with a different year. Luckily I'm only about 140 so the suspension shouldn't be to strained.

    86 Cr250 Mx revival

Alright so I've acquired myself a 86 Cr250 that so far is in pretty decent shape mechanically. I'm looking to build the thing into a fun toy that I can take out onto a modern mx track and give some new bikes a run for their money. The biggest thing I'd like to improve on the bike is the suspension and first off the forks. Would anyone know what the best route for me to go would be? Newer bike front end swap? If so what year and model is the easiest? Or rebuild 86 forks or use some other year?

    Strange electrical issues

I don't understand electronic systems completely so there's a good chance I said the issue totally wrong, I just know I need a new RR and stator.

    Strange electrical issues

Alright fellas I return. After taking the bike to my local shop it's been determined that the regulator rectifier is doing strange things and caused my stator to partially fry up. I have a new stator on the way but didn't order the regulator rectifier because I've heard the electro sport ones are junk and the last thing I want to do is fry something else and lose more money. Could someone point me in the direction of a good regulator rectifier for a Drz?

    Strange electrical issues

Yeah after I spliced those wires together it had absolutely no effect on the electronics so it has to be after that switch somewhere. I'm about to saw screw it and sell a kidney so I can take it to a shop

    Strange electrical issues

I haven't gotten crazy with using a jumper wire yet but yes my battery connections are clean and tight as well as the fuse. The taillight does turn on yes.

    Strange electrical issues

Ok so after splicing the ignition wires like you said it had no effect so I'm super stumped now

    Strange electrical issues

So my fuse replacing endeavor wasn't successful and I've already tried cleaning things so I'm thinking I'll give replacing the ignition switch a shot. What's this about hot wiring?

    Strange electrical issues

Thank you for the great reply I'll try my best to explain. So once again thanks for clarifying the purpose of the rectifier and stator since I wasn't clear on that. The battery I swapped in was straight out of a friends functioning Drz and the swap had absolutely no effect on anything. Yes the signals are led replacements so they couldn't be on a different circuit

    Strange electrical issues

At this point my Drz400sm Has no electric start, no headlight and when I hit the horn my gauge lights reset. All of these issues began with my headlight occasionally not working and then eventually it wouldn't start using electric start. I swapped a new battery into it hoping that would solve the issue and that didn't change a thing. Could this be a bad rectifier? Also my turn signals still work

    Drz electrical issues!

So here's the issue- One day I went to start my 2005 Drz400sm and it acted as if my battery was dead just turned over very slowly but i brushed it off because I had left the headlight on for a while and figured the battery was just a little drained so I push started it and away I went. well eventually my headlight stopped working as well as my bike would just click instead of turn over which once again sounds like a dead battery but I got a new fully charged battery and the symptoms didn't change a bit. So with a good fully charged battery the headlight still does nothing and the starter solenoid just clicks, the weird thing is my speedometer is still lit up brightly and doesn't get dim or anything when I try to start it. Would this be a bad starter solenoid or a wiring issue somewhere? Any advice is much appreciated.
