I have been on a bike since I was about 6 years old and now 44. I ride a WR so riding thru the forest is what I like best.

Well sh## my oil bolt is siezed and rounded

I have removed a bunch of these, I find a socket that fits snug on the bolt. Fill it will JB weld and let it sit over night. Remove and throw away the next day. Just don't over do the JB weld. Don't get it on the case or in the backside of the socket. You want the wrench to fit lol. $5 for the JB weld and you loose a socket but it's a quick painless fix.

Brand new less than 2 hrs: no start

Honda has a 90 day warranty for factory defects, putting a pipe and other mods like that will not void anything. I have personally used one a CRF, was told as long as I don't open the motor it would be taken care of and it was.
  5. Is the beta's smaller in size compared to the yamaha's? I'm a vertically challenged guy lol and I'm really interested in getting a new Beta 500rr and was wondering if they are smaller then say a Yz/Wr 450? It sucks always looking for a bench or log to put my feet on and want a smaller bike in height without having to modify the suspension. I'm really liking the 2016 Beta's and would even be happy getting the new 300, just wanted to know from you that have them and know if they are a little smaller in ride height. Thanks.

Call your dealership, you want them to fix it plus have a track record of this issue incase it's on going. As long as you get it in under warranty a on going problem is covered even out of warranty. I had a XL600 that had the head issue, I think it was a 86. It kept dropping a valve every 500-1000 miles. After a year plus of multiple head jobs....hahaha that sounded wrong, they finally put a updated head on it. Ran great after that and never cost me a dime.

Some questions about my new 450x

In Ca they look for the smog equipment at the parks, if you don't have it a green sticker bike becomes a red sticker or they just don't let you in the parks. I'm not in this boat in my area there is no red-green sticker BS but I have experienced it first hand with my brother and throwing us out due to removing the smog equipment.

Some questions about my new 450x

I totally feel you, I hate buying used 4 strokes and then after you buy it you are like did I just screw up?? Plus he already had it warm, I would have turned around at that point. I always tell them don't have it warm when I get there or I will not buy it. If you are feeling uneasy about the bike a rebuild would satisfy you. I know it sucks to buy a bike then have to work on it but a fresh piston and rings would have the bike like new plus you can check the head and crank. I'm only saying this cause you don't think and maintenance was done. It might not need to be done but would satisfy you knowing the bike is in good shape. It would suck to go out and have it pop or drop a valve. This is just what I would do, let us know how it goes for you. Good looking bike. Also if you have access to a bore camera you could pull the plug and look in the cylinder see the piston, walls and valves. If it looks clean without wear I would say ride it but until you can see either by taking it apart or dropping a camera in there you are just trusting someone who wants to sell it. I hate being the buyer.

How to Keep an Engine Looking New?

I also use wd40 then for cleaning I only use simple green. When my white plastics start to loose that shine I use soft scrub with bleach (for sinks) on my white plastics. They look great but you loose that shine but they are white. I had a 01 Cr500 that when I sold it the guy asked how I kept it looking so new, I just told him what I did.

fear after a wreck and getting over it

It's always taken me a while to get back up to speed after a hard fall. Just keep riding in your comfort zone and it will come back, just takes some seat time.

    What Bike Do You Ride?

    CRF 450x OR WR 450f

I know the CRF had a shim issue with pounding them out but not sure on the years and if the CRFX was part of the issue or it was just the CRF450R. If you could get a 12 WR I would but some people like carbs better, so that would just depend on you. I like the fuel injection better, easy to tune and altitude will not affect FI compared to the carb.

    CRF 450x OR WR 450f

I will say the WR valves do not move, there are exceptions out there. But I had a 07 WR and checked regularly will no movement and sold it with around 90 hours on it running like a champ. My 15 has 18 hours and I haven't even checked. I will double it before I check unless it has a hard time starting, ticking or any abnormal thing I will check for sure. I'm one of those guys that changes oil, filters before my oil even changes color (street & dirt). I run Motul 300V oil and change it between 300-500 miles. I know some people don't believe that running a top grade synthetic works better then other oils if changed regularly but I do. Working on cars for 20 years and seeing the difference in them plus what i have seen in my own bikes I stay with Top synthetic oils (cars, trucks, bikes). My brother on both of his CRF'S has had to adjust the valves. My WR hits harder then his CRF but not sure that's always the greatest thing, seems like his rear stays planted better getting on it coming out of the corners. Could also be the rider lol. His CRF is really smooth getting on it, that I do like. Seems like his front end stays down better. My 07 suspension was the worst ever but they had a issue with that year, I think it was a bad valve in them. My 15 SSS suspension is just great and I haven't even had them adjusted for me and I'm 200lbs, a little soft but a world of difference compared to my 07. This is just my experiences and I know everyone is different and everyone rides different. But just check that it was regularly maintained and you should get a good running bike and some ride time before rebuilding it. Keep us informed on what bike you end up getting.

    CRF 450x OR WR 450f

I have a 15 WR450f and my brother has a 12 CRF450, I like both bikes but the Yamaha is what I stick with due to mostly being with yamaha for the last ten years and having zero issues with them. It would come down to price and how the bike was used, I would jump on a low hour honda vs a high hour yamaha. My brother hates the way the yamaha rides and loves the honda, I like both but prefer the yamaha. It could be just the what I'm used to riding But if you buy new I would go with the yamaha but that is just my opinion. Get a true feel and figure out what bike is for you they both have to be rode then you can make a true pick as to the one that fits you the best. I'm also a rider who likes reliability vs performance and yamaha has not let me down, but would have zero issues with a good running honda. I just want to ride and not have to work on it constantly. I'm sure this didn't help at all, sorry.

    Lengthening 2006 CRF450R forks?

What about different triple clamps? I have seen them with a drop down so it brings the front end up.
