  1. I removed the Allen screws on the intake side and secured the canister to a work bench, but the canister won't pull appart. I called Pro Circuit and they advised using heat to break down any adhesive. I used a heat gun and propane torch, but it still won't budge. Anyone have any secrets? Thanks!
  2. Hello, I have a 03 KX144 from Forward Motion ported for bottom and mid. The bike runs okay right now with 420 main, 40 pilot, and 82 needle in the third position from the bottom (not sure if you normally count from top or bottom). I'm pretty new to jetting. I use the bike from 3000-6000 ft in Socal. It also has stock pipe with Pro Circuit spark arrestor silencer. Right now I'm experiencing major spooge. It has not fouled a plug yet, but i imagine it isn't too far from it. I included a pic of the plug if it helps. That picture is after riding in Dove Springs probably 3000ft and up to the cabin probably around 6000ft. So, how do I stop the spooge and make the bike more leaner and more crisp?

    Bump for a quick easy answer so I can order parts. Which is leaner 81 or 83 needle jet? I'm on the top clip of my 82. I think I need to go a good bit leaner. How many jets leaner should I buy?

    I'm gonna bring this thread back from the dead. The KX144 is running well and the wife loves it. I ended up with a 35 pilot, 82 needle in top position, and a 400 main. The throttle response is better but I'm still getting some spooge that is annoying to clean up every week. I'm gonna try a leaner needle. After some searching without finding anything, I'm just gonna ask a stupid question. Would in my case a 83 needle be leaner or a 81? I'm not sure if the needle goes by length or just like the other jets the bigger the number, the more fuel it delivers.

    I just read this link... http://justkdx.dirtrider.net/printcarbtuning.html Long read but I learned a lot. I think I can handle it on my own now with their guide. I have not done a plug chop yet but the next time we go out to ride I will. How much leaner do you think I should buy the jets? Maybe buy 400, 410, 35, and 37.5?

    Its completely possible. I bought my 03 last year and the DMV had no problems transfering ownership. I found the bike on Craigslist and had to swoop on it even though I was hurting for cash. I even have an 05 OEM frame on it and the Pro Circuit suspension off my 06. Sometimes its amazing how you end up building your dream bike.

    I am looking at CRU as a place to honeymoon. I really like that the activities are all inclusive and you have so many different things to do. I tried calling both their toll free number and regular number and I got no where. I also tried the Marea Brava hotel and the lady on the phone could not tell me anything about the "motocycletas." I think the place would be perfect and the prices really are not too bad either. Has anyone heard anything or know anyone who could give me an answer? Thanks! http://www.costaricaunbound.com/

    That would be great if you could find out for me. And maybe get a contact number if you can? I know the inclusive is expensive but I don't want to have to worry about the little things like car rental and directions to activities. Plus having the option to ride whichever days we want is awesome. I'm glad to hear the Marea Brava is nice. If they are not open I will definitely hit you up to hear about some other options.     Fresh KX144 Not Starting

    I bought a KX125 with a spun crank bearing and sent the engine off to Eric Gorr for a 144 kit and new bottom end. The bike had been sitting for two years before being rebuilt. Tonight after putting it all together all I could get was about 5 seconds of sputtering before it would die every five or so kicks. It would only start if I was giving it throttle. I hope this is a carburetor issue. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna rip the carb apart to see what I find. Before I started it I drained the carb but I imagine its still all gummed up in there. You have any ideas what jet or float could be causing this? I'm not a carburetor expert so a little guidance would be nice. Oh, and this is the girlfriend's bike and she is very excited to ride it this weekend. I don't think she is gonna miss the KX100 too much. Thanks!

  15. Hello, My 06 YZ250 has been sitting for a few months. I went to start it up today and it acted very weird. The bike would only start with the choke on and would not idle. I had to rev it a bit just to keep the bike from bogging and stalling. I figured my float was stuck open so I took out the carb and made sure it was fine. I put the bike back together and I still had the same problem. I then rode the bike around my property and it acted the same. It rode pretty normal but if I didn't have the throttle open at all it would bog and die. The same happened if I stopped and pulled in the clutch. Do you have any idea what else it could be? Thanks for your help.

    Finally got the carb out. I have a question about the pilot jet. Should I be able to blow air all the way through from the screwdriver end to the opposite end or just from the opposite end through the little holes? Right now air will only blow from the opposite end through the little holes. I soaked it in a degreaser and tried blowing air through it and got nothing besides the little holes. Thanks!

    KX100 Bottom-end rebuld

    This was my first bottom end rebuild. I got the cases back together and the clutch cover back on, but the engine feels very tight and difficult to spin. Before I put the top-end back on I want to make sure that it is normal for it to be much tighter than a worn engine would be. The only mistake I did was put the crank case seals in pointing the wrong direction then reversed it once I realized I had done something wrong. So, is it normal for a fresh bottom end to be very tight? Thanks guys!
