    Clean up after others

I arrived at Elfendahl ORV Wednesday for Men's Day on Wednesday to find a big mess of McDonalds garbage next to my parked car. I remembered that in my bin for gear I had a black garbage bag and some nitrile gloves. So, I put the glove on and picked up not just that trash, but anything I could find in the entire parking area. It took me a whopping 5-10 minutes and I filled the bag about 3/4 and tossed it into my truck bed for later proper disposal. When I was done, there wasn't a piece of garbage the size of a quarter in the entire ORV lot. I've done some projects like that in the past, and monitored the site later to see how long it takes to get messy again. Usually, it takes a long time. That trash wasn't mine, it probably wasn't yours, and it may very well not even have been dirt riders garbage. But, if the DNR comes by, or the general public, it might look like ours. I'm very proud of our group of riders in the NW because it is very rare to see a mess attributable to our group. In fact, especially with the efforts of John Eaton and members at SDR, we are net cleaners of the riding communities by a long shot. His efforts at SDR have not only cleaned the property they leased, but ALL the surrounding communities! That kind of goodwill they are creating will pay massive dividends for the future of ORV in the Shelton area. We should be like that everywhere. Trash shows up for any number of reasons. But one reason is accident, wind.... but so many people only clean up their own messes. No, we need to go one step further for the sake of community but also to benefit our reputations as a user group. So, if you can, find a way to pick up not just your garbage, but any and all from others. It hardly takes but a few minutes to do so. If you park somewhere, camp somewhere don't just clean up, clean up everything. That kind of thing is contagious, and a great lesson to teach kids.
  2. Who would be interested in participating in a weekly riding club? Meet at 1pm and ride until dark, then dinner and drinks afterwards in Belfair? no obligation to show up, but the idea is to get people to schedule this into work/career or retired and have a group of guys to ride with etc This is what a typical golf club does and is very popular. Perhaps we can incorporate some fun challenges, skills contests, learning events, team events?

South Puget Sound winter men’s club: Wednesday riding

I’ve heard that tuning 17 and newer was harder than on the 14-16 models. Once my adjustments were made, my bikes lived happily ever after with zero issues Sounds like you’ve tried a bunch of stuff. Did you raise the tps? i do recall a thread a while back explaining that high performance gasoline can create a new cycle of events.

    Clean up after others

The major dumping is very obviously done by the care takers of low income housing. Somebody skips town, and a ton of crap is left laying around. Annoying litter is usually from garbage trucks, wind, and a small minority of idiots. Its pretty easy to clean up after idiots and wind but getting the illegal dumpers and shoddy garbage service to shape up is a different matter.

The tps sensor on my 4 strokes needed to be raised from stock .58 to .67-.69 before changing to euro map and raising the tps, both the 350 and 450 ran embarrassingly bad the idle is a band aid and raising it will not save that irritating and dangerous condition i hear that raising the tps on 17 and newer bikes is harder but can be done with a cheap mod. @dan500afc is my mechanic and will do my new bike

You need to tune the 350 better. They all come set up for flame outs at 7 mph.
  7. Super tight technical terrain, wooded forest, muddy, roots, up and down hills.... I was chasing The Coug, while I'm on my Husky 300..... I'm able to keep up with him but doubt I could have passed him. I've tried that bike too, and very impressive for a "big bike" to be that capable in the hands of a skilled rider in the gnar. @cougbike Nice riding the other day buddy!

Following The Coug on his Beta 500

I am probably buying another bike in the next 12 months. Would love to hit some demo days for beta. The new fe450 is one bike to rule them all, but a special situation bike for extreme gnar is probably next. But I’m sick of my 2 stroke woes.

I’m already down for a 2018 fe450, will be picking up first week of February. But the Beta is a mighty fine bike.

Southern Oregon BLM closure of land to shooting.

Well, I ride all across Western N America. The ORV lots are usually squeaky clean. The trails rarely have as much as a gum wrapper on them. But, if I go to an area that has gravel pits and allows shooting, I typically find; shot up bottles destroyed tvs destroyed appliances plastic shotgun casings by the hundreds+ cans, household garbage This stuff accumulates over the years and looks like ASS. If the shooting community doesn't wanna acknowledge that, or not bother cleaning it up, they shouldn't be surprised when nobody stands up to support their user groups privilege of the forests. And worse yet, there are typically shooters that step off the typical shooting area and start shooting in ways that violate any and all rules. Shooting downhill into valleys, shooting on trails, shooting towards trails. Recently a group of us two days in a row encountered a group that had a shooting gallery complete with table in the MIDDLE of the trails over at Hurd rd at Tahuya. Unbelievable kind of stupid at work by that kind of person. And what, you going to argue with someone with guns and ammo? At Cap Forest, there was a pit that was on the N Rim trail. Shooters were constantly there despite signs. The trail goes directly behind where those folks were shooting! The signs to not shoot would routinely get pulled down. Finally, they put a video camera up because the dumb asses just didn't get it. Anyways, that's all I got to say on that matter. I'm hoping some folks that are players in the shooting community around here see this and ponder this perception. Wouldn't really be that hard for that user group to police itself and organize garbage clean up days for known shooting areas.

Video: KTM'S CARB VS TPI (TRANSFER PORT INJECTION)

This thread is pretty funny, but also timely as I'm selling my 2 stroke 300, buying a new gen 4 stroke instead. My 300 is like the hot crazy chick, great sometimes, other times a major liability. I've ridden the new ktm 300 tpi and while I like it, I live in Washington State and our terrain has very significant elevation changes and our seasons can have us going from 30 degrees to 100 degrees. Considering where I ride, the 4 stroke really has the upper hand. The new generation of 4 strokes by KTM/Husky and Beta that I've ridden are so light, nimble and powerful, it takes away much of the downside of dumping a 2 stroke. So, Feb 1st I'm buying a 2018 fe450 to compliment my 2016 fe450 which I love... just want a lighter variation for extreme enduro days. One day I'll sell the 2016 and perhaps buy a 2 stroke again, but for now I'm glad to dump the hot chick.. Ok, carry on and keep clubbing each other like baby seals!

Southern Oregon BLM closure of land to shooting.

I’m a big supporter of gun rights. That said, everywhere I go I see a total lack of rules being followed and any effort whatsoever to clean up gun practice debris. Gun users have made themselves stand out in a negative way. I’m sure there are many great organizations of shooters but they haven’t done much to clean up the messes of the others. Or in keeping the rogues from not following some very simple rules. Ive ridden up to shooters who literally are shooting, set up tables directly on walking/riding trails.

Tired of reading the same old threads?

Made of steel, and a very stout top mount. I can literally toss bike onto pavement and nothing will budge. Heavier than the other crap but if you want to protect you and the bike it’s the best, hands down. Everyone up here that rides gnar uses them. The mirror folds in and out and never causes grief.

@Anatoli talked to me today, he thinks I really should just buy another 450. The new one is more nimble and at least 10 lbs lighter than the one I got now. So, that is what I'm going to do, because there aren't many consumers that know these Husky bikes as good as he does.

You all need to grow up, shut up, and stop wearing tutus.

A close up of hdb and mirror. If you ride bike busting trails this stuff is the only way to go.

Hey, found a clip of that event... ghost bike, toss, flip down hill. The HDB handguards also have a very functional mirror that tuck into them.

Highway Dirtbikes, the only name you'll ever need to know about handguards. Strongest thing on the bike, and if you crash a lot, you kinda need that... In 4 yrs, I've only had to adjust them once. That was in California, Hollywood Hills with RAZR and his mechanic on a trail they call Psycho. My bike was doing a 360 down the hill until a nice tree stopped the wreckage.

Where I ride they would be hanging from tree branches before sandwich time. There is more to riding than Kalifornia. Come up to Washington for opening weekend of mountains mid June for our party. Last year was a hoot.

Five of us today at Tahuya. Dutch on his electric, he wore that poor thing out. Brian got his xr400 fixed after busting it up on Alien a few weeks back... Mike, a tt lurker drove all the way from marysville to join us on his rekluse fitted Honda 450 mx bike. Mike is a return to rider and catching on quick. Cougbike was dominating the Tommy roller coaster. Then he got a flat rear tire. Drove all the way from sand hill to elf orv...his bike squirming all over the pavement. Got tired just watching him wrestle the bike! Ok, TUbliss Coug...please...
  25. I got @Russ Henry and @cougbike so far Join us for some good ST fun before the rain starts up again. Meet at Elfendahl ORV parking and ready to roll at 1230pm. I will be there in white Toyota Tundra with Husky bike.
