    Fuel Screw o-ring

Searched everywhere. Napa, other Auto parts stores, Marine stores, Hydraulic stores, MC repair shops, Hoppy shops, Hardware stores. I can't believe that this o-ring is so hard to find!!!! Does anyone know of an aftermarket fuel screw that might come with the o-ring? Thanks!!!

    Fuel Screw o-ring

Searched the Forum, but did not see a post on this. Does anyone know where to get the o-ring that goes under the fuel screw? I was trouble shooting my idle issues last night and cleaned the carb again and noticed the the o-ring was broken. I went to my local Honda "stealership" and they do not sell the part, only a gasket set for the carb. It is $38. I don't want to pay that much, when all I need is the o-ring. Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention that I did drain the oil, and I added 1 quart. I guess that it is time to take out the carb again.

Could it be an electrical problem or a timing problem? I have never done any timing adjustments on a MC.

OK I took a few hours off of work and checked the valve clearances. The intake's seemed out of adjustment. Adjusted the valves to specs. Checked the compression and it was a little better 100-110. The bike started on the first kick, but would not idle. If I let off the gas it would die. Messed with the fuel screw and the idle adjustment still would not idle. Then I could no longer kick start it. So I push started it a few times. Same problem. Sputters at about 1/2 throttle then it will go. If I let off the gas it dies. I am gettting really frustrated!

Checked it cold, it looks like there is LOTS of oil. Maybe that is the problem.

I believe that I drained the oil from both. It has been a while though. So here is what I have so far from all of your tips! Fuel Screw tip is not boken I have spark (whitish/blue ) So now I am going to check valve clearances, so I figured I might as well check the compression first. That would tell me if my valves were not adjsted correctly right? The manual says to check the compression when the bike is at operating temp, my bike does not run, so I checked it while it was cold. At 6 kicks at full throttle, I get about 90 psi. Is that OK with the bike cold???? Manual says 100-142 psi. I noticed that the new plug was pretty black, not oily, but gassy smelling like it was running too rich. I guess that it is time to check the valve clearances. Any tips before I begin? I have the instructions from Kevin's XR Sticky. Thanks again for all of the tips, I owe you guys bigtime!!!!!!!!!!! If we ever cross tracks, the BEER is on me!!!!!! Geoff.

I am getting gas in the carb bowl. I will have to check the o-ring on the boot going to the head. Never saw an o-ring there. No one mentioned anything about this: The one thing that really threw me for a loop is when I checked the oil level on the dipstick. It was WAY over the full line. Last time I changed the oil I only used about 1 3/4 quarts. Could this be part of the problem?

The pilot jet is clear and I have used a few other sizes with the same result. What passage do I need to blow out in the carb? The same passage that has the pilot jet? Which way do I need to blow it out, from the inside out or from the inside into the carb? Thanks for the idea.

Where should i send my shocks for work?

I had my forks and shock done by ESP. George is really good, they are in LA though. They were able to get my setup done within 1 week so I could make a Dual Sport ride in Death Valley. Here is their link if you are interested. www.mysuspension.com

So I put the old header and exhaust back on, jetted the carb back to the way it was when it was running good, 150main and 55 pilot, fuel screw at 1 1/2 turns out (not sure about that setting). Still will not start. I noticed that there was a little oil or fuel deposit on one of the exhaust ports. Not sure if that was from the problems that I am having or not. Adjusted the fuel screw from 3/4 out to 2 1/2 turns out and still will not start. I can push start it, but it is missing bad, up to about 1/2 throttle. Once I let off the gas it just dies. If I can push start it and it barely runs, that means I have spark right?? The bike is too hot at the moment to check the spark, I will check it later on. I will check to make sure that I did not break the tip of the fuel screw off tomorrow. The one thing that really threw me for a loop is when I checked the oil level on the dipstick. It was WAY over the full line. Last time I changed the oil I only used about 1 3/4 quarts. Could this be part of the problem? I guess that tomorrow I will need to check the valve clearances. If it is an electrical problem, how do I check the coil and the regulator? Sorry for the book, but this bike is really getting to me!!! I want to ride!!! Thanks for everones help!!!! Geoff

I did not move the clip on the needle, as it has been in the 3rd position since I did the Gordon Mods. I cleaned the carb as well, so I dont think that there is some dirt in there, but I could have missed something. I can get the motor to run when I push start it, but it will not idle and it misses at around half throttle. I put in new gas and changed the plug, same problem. Has anyone ever heard of the coil causing this problem. If so, how do you check the coil? I am at wits end!!! Thanks!

I don't have one of the vent thingies, I checked my venting to make sure that I could blow thru the vent and it was fine. I think that with a 60 pilot it may be too rich. I had a 55 pilot in there before I did the pipe/header upgrade, but it was backfiring on decel. I may go back to the 55 to see if it will start again. Thanks for all the help!!!! Geoff.
  15. Tried to check mine last night as I a can't get my bike to start. I tried to hold the plug close to the header as I turned the motor over by hand, but I did not see a spark. Am I doing this correctly????
